With the kneepads being standard on FRS/BRZ, this mod should be much cheaper to do now. How difficult is the upgrade? Never really opened up the car door panel.

Stupid easy, honestly. I've taken off the door card too many times. Plenty of videos that'll show you how without scratching anything. A smaller flathead and a Phillip's screwdriver and you're golden.

The knee pads will require a socket for removing the center console. Otherwise it's just the pulling apart that can FEEL tricky, but actually isn't tricky.

First let's start with the Center dash knee pads:

To do this you have to remove the center console.

Next remove filler under the AC controls (idk what it's called, the thing with the USB/AUX ports) You can just grab it and pull (gently) or you can push it out from behind where you just removed the panels.

!
For the life of god I can't remove that piece!! There's no where to grab and I pushed with so much force it still wouldn't come out

Try pulling downward on the top of that piece while lifting up the piece above it. The little clips on the bottom piece are holding up tight against the upper piece. That worked for me.

Anyone know the part numbers for the speaker grills and red trim speaker door knee pads?

Is this going to be as easy in a BRZ with push start? I'm in the same boat where my tray will just NOT release. I was thinking that if i took my console apart that it could help???

Technically it's harder because the cubby is smaller so there's less room to grab. Unfortunately it's the one piece you have to remove to continue on with anything on the console.

or PM them since they're a vendor on here. I'm sure they'll tell you the direct parts if these aren't it.

I think I mentioned it before, but I'll be completely honest in saying that I cracked mine. :o/ However, you can't even see the crack unless you're staring at it. I pulled it again to install the STI push button and I still kinda struggled. It was worse because I saw the crack that I had forgot about and was worried I'd worsen it.

Try pulling more downwards and at the base corner of the cubby closer towards the push button, possibly.

Try pulling the USB connector part out, then you can slide your finger in behind and pull the tray out.

Anyone doing this will figure it out, but both this and the OP are incorrect. There are two extra screws required per side (the OP said three).

There are four points where screws are used to hold the three pieces of the new panels together. Two of them are handled by existing screws, but the other two are not.

You could assemble without the extra screws, and it won't fall apart, but it'll probably rattle when the radio's on.

The yellow circles indicate the two new screw positions; the orange is a locating pin (the OP may have mistaken it for a screw position, but it's not).
