Well I took my raven to PIR for the novice class 8/9/2013.
Performance wise it's all stock. Stock tires pads ect. I just have a apr splitter for downforce up front. Fresh oil change the night before. All fluids were good tire pressure I had set to 3psi bellow factory settings knowing they would heat up. First session I was learning the track. Second session I felt really good about but session 3 the stock tires finally got slippery on me. No spin outs though! Never lost control! Did slide a bit though on sessions 3 and 4. Maybe it's my braking style or I didn't brake just quite hard enough but never had brake fade. My car is a first 86 car I took delivery may 8th 2012 it's sitting at just over 10k miles. Keep in mind the group was all novices but I managed to over take just about every one including a caged miata on hoosen tires, mustang gt500, both STIs and a bunch of others that just didn't either have the power in the 2 short straights or couldn't make the 2 corners before te straights for a good rpm range pull leading into the straights. The ony car that did pass me was a zl1 caged and supercharged camerro that I held off for 3 laps! The lap I was passed on on I made a mistake missed 3rd and went into 5thfrom 4th loosing my corner exit speed into the main straight so I waved him bye. This car stock was way beyond my expectations! I hit 102-106 both straights every time then at the 400ft section braked hard dropped from 4th at redline ito second at about 50-53mph going into the cane turn coming out into 3rd at redline. All other turns I was in 3rd or 4th above 5500 RPMs. And although at times I was only feathering the throttle till the exit I never felt like I was in danger of loosing it! I was almost always on the edge of the stock tires traction though. ![]() ![]() ![]() The camerro in pic 1 is the only car to pass me and the brz in pic 2 I lapped several times. I counted at least 6 forum members there! Great turn out. I'm hooked on the track life now! Time to start installing my stack of parts lol!
