Looks like I was mis-informed about the proof of ownership side of things.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. This is good news (I think)…

“given that there are currently zero in the country and zero in transit” – (WTF???)

Be careful, you don't want to use the same vin for all parts. Toyota will get smart and shut that down real quick.

I just spoke with the local parts department. I gave him the SU003-04630 & SU003-04631 part numbers and he confirmed that the parts are not available yet, but we will call again when the warehouse is open. He did not ask me for a VIN number or any type of ownership confirmation.

Toyota parts professional here and I can confirm this as well. I have been trying to get my hands on the SU003-04630 & SU003-04631 head lights. They should be available mid Sept. (from what I've been told).

This just means they are not available just yet... I will check back in September when my local PDC shows availability.

He will need a 10 series VIN for the PDC to manually release the parts, otherwise the order will cancel.

If I use a VIN from a car that is still for sale, should I expect that to be kicked back?

I would think so when my dealer ordered the foglight trim panel (10 Series part only) they had to submit my VIN and owners name to get it.

I'm not saying it can't be done just telling you my story about ordering parts for my car.

I don't care if you guys have any of the 10 Series parts as a owner and I've told Scion/USA this really you don't have a release series badge or the paint.
Toyota/Scion should allow you guys to buy the headlights if you want them in my opinion.
