So let's chop this up into bits shal we!?

For the record my issue with this issue is that no one tried it (or at least reported anything until you did). I specifically wanted to pay for lights because it incentives the dealer to ensure that I get the parts (call from a general manager or owner can make a lot of these issues go away).

That's as far as my order went.
The very high probability of failure here isn't lost on me. More importantly if you tried and failed then anyone might who dosen't actually own one? Maybe not. I know by law Toyota has to provide spare parts for 2500 10 Series cars for 15 years so there's going to be 2500 people who will have no issue getting those parts. I'm saying all of this because I believe that it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE for Toyota to ensure that these 10 series parts only go to owners. I'll bet you $100 that if I try this at every dealership within driving range I'll get my lights

No organization is 100% successful achieving compliance with it's own set of rules. More importantly if everyone who claims they want a set of these these actually tried to get them, Toyota's parts helpdesk getting flooded with these calls it would go a long way to making this happen

Like I said, I'm not trying to be a downer on this... although my post comes across pretty negatively and that's not what I was going for. I'm just giving you my experience as a former Scion Champion and current ASM.

I really hope you get what you paid for - and sorry for not getting back to you with the part numbers. They block my access to this forum at work.

You are correct that no organization is 100%...

I'll see if I can get any kind of clarification from a rep. I've used the wheel example a couple of times already as they were the "flagship" items of the RS5.0 and 7.0 tC2's.

No worries about the part numbers. As for getting some kind of clarification lets let this lye (sp?) for a little while. We all know that Scion monitors this forum anyways but let's not give them anymore to think about.

Now that US Domestic part number is out in the wild lets see what happens. It would be useful of a few more forum members would step up and try to order these from their dealers. Are there other avenues (Body Shops?) If we could get the GT86 LED/HID assemblies at these prices it would be a killer deal. Trying to get these from Germany make this a $2600-2800 exercise. $2000 for the set is a good price.

It is not easy to get RS parts for non RS owners, but it can be done with enough work, and trial/error. I got a few different RS parts for my tC easy enough, the main thing to realize is that they WILL be overpriced even more so then normal.

It is also best that you wait a while after the RS has been released for the best chances at getting the parts you want. It also doesn't hurt to just have a VIN for an RS car.
I've never had to actually show proof of ownership but I did need a VIN sometimes and it was months to a year after the RS was initially released that I actually tried to get anything.
If you wait even longer then the prices will drop down significantly.
after a while you just need the part number and don't need a VIN.

to get an idea with the prices it was nearly $2,000 for an unpainted body kit when i originally got it, years later after the model was discontinued, it had dropped to only $1k or so.
______

I've spoken to some scion corp about how i had done this and they told me as long as paid for it it was fine with them, granted this was just me talking with them casually a couple years ago. I can't say this would be treated the same now.

I've had my 10 Series for a month now, and still haven't been able to get the fog lights (purchased with the car to be installed when the dealer gets the parts). I dropped by the dealership this morning to check on them, and they have all of the parts except for the interior switch panel, which requires a 10 Series specific part because of the HID leveling dial that the standard FR-S doesn't have. Even that little switch panel requires VIN verification. The other parts shipped, but they held the switch panel waiting for verification of the VIN.

Meanwhile, the dealer is already adding the fogs to their standard FR-Ses without a hitch.

BTW. Let us know what that part number is when you get it

The HID leveling switch is also in the BRZ and would be nice to have. I have checked behind the driver's side dash and there is no plug for the switch in the FRS. There is only a plug for the fogs taped up. I presume the leveling switch is not necessary yet would be nice to have.

I have spend a lot of time looking at the wiring diagrams. I think getting the leveling switch to work should be simple. one problem is that since we don't have the harness ends for the leveling motors or the switch itself it's going to require directly soldering to each.

My dealer ordered the interior switch panel this morning and Southeast Toyota told them it would come in tomorrow on the parts delivery truck.

My switch panel finally just showed up yesterday, and I got the fogs installed this morning.

Hopefully your dealer is ahead of the curve and you won't run into the same problem. Toyota will accept orders, and then put them on hold awaiting VIN verification, which can apparently take some time to process.

If you're talking about the USDM fog light kit here is the part number, PT413-18130

That's for the whole kit. Also, did you get your headlights? When I checked them out at my local dealer (I get parts at cost) they were still listed at 1k a piece. Just curious if it worked out.

Also, the issue with the VIN is hit or miss. When looking up 10 series parts I actually couldn't find them in the parts system with the VIN, I had to remove the filter. Once I did that everything popped up for the 10 series and it's labeled as "Limited" for trim. I did have to supply a VIN though to actually place the order because Gulf States Toyota called the dealer wanting verification.

I'm not sure how the dealer is handling the verification part of this transaction or if Toyota has called them to confirm but I know the order is placed (I have called back the dealer confirm the order went thru). As far as I know they're are on backorder....

...ETA is september 5th!

I got an update from my district rep late last night. The restriction on proof of ownership (registration, etc) now does not apply in the same form it did a few years ago. VIN verification still does - but he did say that a dealer just has to provide a valid 10 Series VIN to release the parts.

He checked with the PDC in California and was given a timeframe of "mid-late September", given that there are currently zero in the country and zero in transit.

Looks like I was mis-informed about the proof of ownership side of things.
