I took the frs for another test drive today more of a spirited one and it was a blast. I think I'm gonna plan on leasing if I get it.

I'm gonna test drive another camaro tomorrow hopefully.

But man that frs was fun to drive I don't think it will be surpassed. Also now my dad is willing to help me slightly financially if I get the Camaro haha such an ass.

So I think I'll either buy the Camaro or lease the frs at this point. Advantage frs.

I'd get the FR-S if you enjoying driving on twisty back roads or plan on taking it to the track/autox. If you were to get a Camaro, V8 all the way. I'd never get a V6 muscle car. Go big or go home.

I'm curious, is there a very real concern of vandalism of foreign cars at your workplace even when parked in the designated areas? Do they actually plant burning crosses on import cars over there at GM?

Well at my plant there are no designated areas for imports, we're all mixed in. My friend who is also an Engineer at the other GM Plant not too far away (~20min) has to deal with this.

He actually drives a 300ZX and he hasn't dealt with any vandalism yet.

I currently drive an 00' Integra the Engineer I work with drives a 98' Civic SI, another one I work with drives a 05' Subaru Impreza Wagon.

I think the whole, I work for GM therefore I should buy GM is a buncha blah. And its definitely a standard that older men (such as my father) follow, they look at it as me betraying the company. I won't feel guilty the least bit if I get the FR-S because its the car I desire more.

I love driving therefore I'm going to get the car I enjoy the most.

Praise be to GM

The attitude should not be "shame on you for not buying GM." It should be "shame on GM for not producing a car I desire more than any other car."

Cause not all of us can afford the Vette.

I would argue that the company betrayed the employees years ago...but that isn't on topic.

But you said yourself, you love driving...I think most would agree (admittedly with a bias) that the 86 is a better driver's car. However, I do understand that $6k is hard to walk away from.

So....my final suggestion is this: Get the Camaro, pay it off as quickly as you can, and get the 86 (or something similar) in 4-5 years. You'll still be in your 20s and you will still be able to enjoy it to its fullest (as well as be a more experienced driver).

Yea well old people are stubborn and live by ancient standards. I'm not sure if the twins had anything to do with it but, Chevy is actually developing a lightweight RWD sports car its still a concept though.

They already had two, but killed their parent brands (Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice)

Yeah, I thought the 140S concept looked better, but I don't mind the other one too much. I think the 140S concept will lend some of its styling to the next Cruze, and they're probably actively working in the background to build something out of the Code 130R.

They've both actually been repainted and shown off multiple times. There's a market for hotted up FWD cars, and recently it's been proven there's a market for small, lightweight RWD sports cars as well. Chevy just needs to build them already.

Test drive the Camaro in heavy traffic and see what you think of the visibility then.
It sounds like you'll be driving a lot of miles. You want to do all the math before signing a lease for any car because the payout at the end could kill you.

Are they bringing back the Monza?
That could actually work. A car 3/4's the size of a Camaro with the Camaro 6 cylinder in it would be one hell of a lot of fun.

Weight matters to me every single time I drive, even at 2-3 tenths real-world everyday street driving. You can't disguise MASS, and big heavy cars are just, to me, inherently less fun to drive, period, even if they generate stellar objectively-tested handling numbers and lap times around VIR or the 'ring.

My '95 Z28 M6 was too heavy for me, I tremendously preferred driving my 240SX (I owned both at the same time) despite the wonderful rumbly engine noises and infinitely greater acceleration with the Camaro. I even liked the Camaro's interior better (mine was leather). Anyway, I replaced those two cars with my S2000. Bliss!

The 5th gen is a good 300-400 lb. up on the 4th gen, and is WAY bulkier.

Smaller/lighter-weight cars are simply more fun to drive, even on the street not generating anything like 1g cornering grip. For *some* of us, anyway!

There's no doubt in my mind that I'd enjoy .85g handling in an FR-S/BRZ immensely more so than 1-g handling in a 1LE/SS 5th-gen.
