If I were in your shoes, I'd get the BRZ/FRS because it's more of a driver's car than the Camaro, and let's be honest, the V6 Camaro still weighs a ton and isn't all that fast. Plus, they are everywhere!

You can get a BRZ/FRS and do a few subtle mods to it here and there, while still having a relatively low car/insurance payment. I bet insurance is more on the Camaro too.

Ask yourself this question....why are you buying this car? To have fun driving it?

Because the twins are much more fun to drive IMO.

BTW, I post regularly on Camaro5 and I'm a fan of all cars, I just think for your money, the twins are better than the v6.

I mean I'm really leaning towards the FR-S as of now I just need to get to a dealer and see what kind of deal and financing I can get.

I do want a drivers car and thats why I love my Integra.

It sucks my dad is really pushing me to get the Camaro, cause of the good deal. Plus he wants to drive it haha...Killing me smalls.

Then again, the twins require premium, and the Camaro only uses regular...so its probably a moot point anyways.
Came from a V6 camaro. You will never see numbers close to what you get on here. I fill up at the same intervals, and spend less at fill ups. So I still save money even if I do have to use premium. I get more the same amount or more miles on my BRZ than my V6 Camaro.

Aftermarket support is also a huge difference. FRZ is easier to work on. Maintenance wise, FRZ is easier with things just more accessible. The V6 Camaro was fun in certain situations, but the BRZ is fun in more situations. My advice is go with BRZ unless you are getting the V8.

Don't forget tire and brake wear on a >4Klbs car. My Legacy GT is 3500lbs and the amount of tire and brake wear is ridiculous (especially tires) coming from cars well under 3k lbs. The harder you drive, the more this matters. My portly Jag also eats up Bilsteins w/ abandon.

I didn't read any replies to this. I'm throwing in my unimportant .02 cents because I'm bored.

Camaros are sweet. BRZs are sweet.

V8 camaros are cool. Flat 4 brzs are cool.

V6 camaros are lame. Flat 4 brzs are still cool.

Idk where I was going with this.

Sorry to bother everyone.

ISo I've been thinking all day and I think I'm going to settle for the Camaro for a few reasons...

1.) With the 14s coming out I'm getting a pretty sweet deal. Working at gm obviously helps too lol. From an investment standpoint I believe it will be a good investment as no major changes are coming to the 14s, aside from aesthetics and the z28 model and I actually prefer the look of the 13. So when I wanna trade the car in I won't be taking that big of a loss.

2.) Buying Gm while working at Gm makes me look good as an employee, and I'm sure my boss and higher ups would be pleased. So there's the likability factor there.

3.) I haven't owned a v6 yet, I like my Japanese four cylinders. So this will be an interesting change in pace where I can enjoy some straight line speed.

4.) I'm saving like six thousand dollars, did I mention that.

So I think all in all this justifies my decision... Granted it's subject to change haha... I love the FRZ and can't wait to see what the future holds for this awesome piece of engineering.

Did I mention subject to change? Why am I so indecisive haha...

I look forward to owning a FRZ sometime in the future preferably NA, (opens can of worms).

Good decision. I love my FR-S, but in your situation the Camaro should be a good decision.

No matter how much you pay for that Camaro it's going to be worth half what you paid in 8 months.

If you get a camaro it needs to be the V8. It's not a true camaro without it.
I feel you just get so much more with the FRS. Better handling, styling and the mods are there to get the extra power. Plus you feel much more connected to the road in the FRS.
this is a FRS/BRZ forum so I might be a little bias

Buying a V6 Camaro or Mustang is like being friendzoned by a really hot chick.

Yea I think its something I'd get used to though, that's really my biggest gripe with the car. My Integra is the total opposite, there's nothing you can't see whilst in the cockpit. But I don't plan on tracking the car so I think I'll be okay on the road.

Some of you guys are worse than the Camaro5 forums haha, V8 or GTFO. An SS is an entirely different price bracket of cars, not looking to get into that.

I probably won't keep the car for more than 3 years here's the KBB on a 2010, I'd be taking a small loss...probably about $4k. Which would be about 3 years worth of driving, this isn't taking into account desirability of the 2013 over 2010.

I'm 22 years young and I am a engineer working for general motors. I am interested in two vehicles, a Camaro & FR-S/BRZ (FRZ).

I have test driven both cars and I'm pretty happy with how they both drive, although I have my gripes.

The Camaro is wide, heavy with lots of power. After driving it I was pretty satisfied lots of usable power, good handling the only thing that bothered me was the enormous pillars in the car that thing is blind spot city.

The FR-S is awesome just lacking in the power department, its a car about balance not balls to the walls speed. The visibility was much better than the Camaro, as was the handling.

So I'd be happy with either car honestly even though they are two completely different animals. I understand the comparison is a bit ridiculous but the main reason I'm comparing is because I'm a GM employee. And us GM employee get some nice discounts. If both were at the same price I think I would take the FR-S/BRZ hands down, but that is simply not the case.

So basically, If I purchased the Camaro I'd be saving 5-6 thousand with respect to the FR-S. So put yourself in my shoes and imagine this from my perspective.

22 years young, just started career, lives at home (lol), college loans, first NEW car.

Do you think 5-6 grand justifies getting a Camaro over a FRZ, given the circumstances or would you still choose the FRZ despite the large price margin? I realize I'm asking this on the FT86 forums (I'm a long time lurker) and after spending some time on the Camaro forums well, I don't want to go back there.

Edit: V6 not V8
First, there's nothingh wrong with cross shopping these two vehicles as they're in the same prioce range. I actually own both, the v6 Camaro (2012) and the FR-S. If you're on Camaro5, you can find me under the same screen name.

Like you said, the Camaro is big and heavy. for the v6, I feel, largely due to it's weight, that while the LFX motor is decent, it seems pretty unimpressive, especially in the upper RPM range due to the weight. If you read the forums on Camaro5, you'll notice a lot of v6 owners that ended up having buyers remorse and traded their in for the v8. I definitely don't feel that way. It has a throttle response delay, that is fixed with an aftermarket ported throttle body.

I'll say, at least in my case, the v6 Camaro cost quite a bit less than my FR-S. I believe, when it comes to the pure thrill of driving, the FR-S takes the cake. Of course, in a straight line the Camaro is a blast as well, until you have to turn, you'll find yourself heavily on the brakes. The blindspots made me very weary of small children.

I will be selling my v6 Camaro pretty soon. I can't justify having it around after purchasing the FR-S. I think it trumps my Camaro everywhere, except the power and looks category. However, when I hop in the FR-S, I don't feel like i'm driving a tank. The looks of the Camaro demand attention and it's certainly a head turner. When you sit in one, it feels like a rocketship.

I will buy another Camaro once GM puts it on a massive diet (2016?) but for now, the thrill of driving comes with the FR-S.
