ARK makes quality stuff, the tip is 4.5". I have the ARK GRiP and love the way it sounds, mine is for a DD as well. Nice sound on throttle, but quiet enough that it doesn't wake the neighbors and has no drone. The DT-S is slightly louder than the GRiP and of course adding the front pipe would increase noise level.
However your less than $800 price range might kill the ARK. |

+1 on the TRD, but you won't be able to find it for even close to $800 unless you find someone who's willing to sell their used one. I love my TRD, probably the single greatest option available from the dealership.

Wonder why no one has hardly mentioned the Nameless Offset Axleback. It's perfect for what he is looking for and a lot higher quality than anything Invidia/Greddy.

I know its personal taste but for a NA car a 4" tip is more than enough and fills the cut outs perfectly like they should have from the factory. I just ordered their 2.5" axleback and will pick up the rest of there kit when they release there headers.

4" vs 5" is the actual size of the muffle, the large "can" tucked under your car that muffles the noise of your exhaust. The smaller the muffler the closer it is to sounding like there isnt one.
The website only lists 4" tips. The tip is what you actually see protruding through your bumper. The stock muffler has the exhaust pipe feed into and just has to exits from it to the tips. Nameless splits the flow and runs its through two separate mufflers and then the tips. Even with there full kit I've heard there is little drone, if you install an axle back kit your only changing well...from the axle back. So drone shouldnt be an issue even with a poor quality kit. I dont have the kit (ordered though) but I love the sound. Last edited by USMM; 08-06-2013 at 02:52 PM. |
