If you want to compare the tint, I could possibly meet you next Saturday at South Coast Subaru as I have to go in for the Homelink mirror "fix", or even Cars & Coffee beforehand.

As for everyone else that said it's a ripoff:

CA law is 70% visible light, but you're allowed to tint the fronts for UV protection. I wanted a tint that was high quality and I've sat in 3 different cars with this tint, and they all work great.

Just did 900+ miles this weekend going up to Bishop/Mammoth/June Lake/Lee Vining in 90+ weather, and the tint worked so well that my AC was half off the entire time. Plus, I have zero loss of nighttime visibility.

Yeah man, I've tested the Crystalline tint and it really blocked the heat.

Can you show me a pic of the windows against a light background such as the road or a white wall? Similar to my pic.

I think the tint they put on is not what you paid for.

As for myself and my experience. I paid $300 for supposedly the highest quality ceramic tint the shop offered (they had 2 ceramic based available) and had the best heat rejection.

After receiving my car I was disappointed at first because the back window looked like it has bubbles in it and even some tears. I took it back the next week and one of the techs came out to my car with a heat gun and got every single imperfection (but 1) out of my back window. Turned out they were all just bubbles. He explained everything to me and said that compared to most vehicles my tint on the rear window came out very good. Explained to me that its very very hard to get a 100% perfect lay on the tint especially in cars like ours. I have 1 small bubble up in the far top left corner that did not come out but I am not going to worry about it.

As for the heat reduction its pretty damn good. I live in Texas and Sunday it was over 100 degrees. Driving into the sun I had to have the ac on 1 or 2 (switched because 2 would get too cold and 1 was not cold enough). Driving away from the sun or sideways with the sun I damn near did not even need the ac. I was getting cold with the ac on 1.

Ok, so an update:

I went to another tint installer. They told me what I have on the side and rear windows are indeed Crystalline 70%, and that the front windshield is definitely not, but they wouldn't help me any further because they don't want their name thrown into the mess (even though I assured I wouldn't name drop them).

I called 3M directly, told me that whatever is written in the warranty card should be the actual tint installed to my car. However, when I mentioned the issue about the front windshield, he said that only 90% Crystalline *should* be installed to the front windshield under most state laws, so that's probably what happened: my installer installed 70% at first, I asked them to redo it, they redid it (without my presence) and probably forgot that I specifically had 70% before and installed 90% to comply with the law.

Also, I tested this 70% Crystalline sheet that I got from another installer against my side windows and the performance (heat rejection) are actually the same. I plan to test this same sample sheet against my coworker's stock FR-S. I'll compare the results against what I have.

EDIT: Here's another car with 70% Crystalline installed to the front side windows and they do look the same as mine, greenish tinge.

Well, shiver me timbers. The stock FR-S windows does have a greenish tinge.

Left is coworker's stock with the Crystalline 70% I sticked to his window. Right is mine.

I'm guessing the only issue now is that the front windshield does not look like 70% when I specifically asked for it.
