I just had mine installed and it isn't snug to the windshield at the top of the adapter. It vibrates and is hard to adjust because it moves around as you try to adjust it. I think the design is defective and I'm asking Subaru for a fix or a refund.

yea if they stripped the screw which seems to be the case for most of them, it'll end up loose. I'd ask them to try another mounting adapter. if they can't get it right, refund

Already had mine replaced 2 months ago and it's starting to rattle again. Hopefully this new piece fixes it for good!

Fixed mine myself, dealership hemmed and hawwed about it but did little to fix it once they figured the part was stripped. (Hadwin White in Myrtle Beach, living up to their reputation for poor service). I used the opportunity to upgrade from the Auto Dimming mirror to a Homelink and fixed it myself with a new adapter kit. When it eventually fails, I'll use bigger screws that don't taper.

With the mirror, I stopped by the day the mirror fell off, before the service department closed to be turned away by the service manager, so I found the general manager who got the parts manager to take a look. When they figured it was stripped, they told me they would find the parts ASAP. I didn't hear from them and did my own research on here. I decided to finally call them with the necessary part numbers a week later, then still didn't hear back from them. There was enough time for me to lose patience, locate, order, receive and install the parts and to this day I STILL haven't heard back from them. To me, this is horrible service showing a total disregard for the customer. My previous car was a Civic Si and I had some of the best service, I've ever had from a local dealer, and a problem like this, especially involving essential safety equipment like this, would've been handled with the highest priority, and I have never had to call them to follow up on a warranty issue after bringing the car by, they would call with constant updates until the issue was resolved.

This happened to me awhile back as well. Started with the homelink mirror wiggling on it's mount, then when crusing on the highway it started to rattle. Stopped at a gas station and wiggled it a bit more then it literally just popped off - luckily I was able to catch it. Tried to screw it back in, but after reading this topic beforehand, I knew there wasn't much i could do since the holes were stripped. Managed to get it to dangle off of the mount and the next day took it in for maintenance. Told the service manager what happened, had it fixed same day. Haven't had a problem since.
Had I not had the opportunity to visit the dealership, I probably would've just put some Loctite threadlocker on the screws, it might've fixed it temporarily. |

Got the new part in the mail on Friday, will be installing it tomorrow and will report back. The screws are in fact different this time around.

I will setup another appointment when I do my oil change and get them to switch it again until this fucking shit is fixed.

I found that the screws that bolted to the base are somewhat too short , I may go to a hardware store tomorow to find a longer bolts .
For now I double tape the metal part on the base so it doesn't move around. If you part open the base you'll know what I'm talking about
