Home link mirror fell off!
I was cruising on the freeway and after I sped up on the on ramp, the mirror fell off! It was so embarrassing... Does anyone know of a guide to reattach the mirror? The screws used seem to be short.

This might help.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ghlight=mirror If that aluminum piece has stripped threads, you'll have to buy a new adapter kit. These go for around $10 I believe. It's a pretty bad design, IMHO. You screw in those "short" screws into the aluminum blank, creating the thread as you go. If you torque it just a bit too much, or if you don't apply enough pressure while you're screwing it in, you strip it. |

@SloS13 Haha! It's true though. I drove back home holding onto the rearview mirror. The worst part is that it chipped off a little bit of paint on the dash trim.
@Foobar Thanks, looks useful. I tried to do that method but the mini mount plate seems like it's too far for the screws, maybe that's why it fell in the first place. I'm going to try remounting it during lunch break. |

Here's the cheapest I found the kit online, but it'll definitely be cheaper locally since you won't pay for shipping: http://www.colonialsubaruparts.com/P...ode=H501SSA040 |
Take it to the nearest dealer and tell them to fix it. That's what warranties are for. Get them to replace the chipped dash too.

@JPxM0Dz Orange thing is micro fiber, padded thing is my dash cover (protects dash and reduces glare).
I'll bring it in tonight to see if they can fix it. |

The stripped mounting plate is a common problem on port installed mirrors, from what I've seen. I think they get a little too aggressive with the power tools when mounting them.
If the dealer or port installed it, bring it back to them. Warranty will cover it. |
