I'm not sure if this has been covered, and I tried to find it within the 42 pages of this thread unsuccessfully, but has anyone used unichip in conjunction with ECUTek? The big disadvantage of ECUTek for me is the inability to make adjustments to a master tuners tune on the fly for things like changes just in weather or small bolt on changes. I think it would be badass to get a solid tune from a master tuner and be able to slightly modify signals to the ecu to keep it dialed in! Also, just to clarify, the unichip can be setup to modify a MAP signal for those of us utilizing a MAP sensor with ECUTek correct? Any input would be appreciated!

I know ecutek tunes are encrypted but as far as tweaking the feeds into the ecutek, I dont see why that wouldnt work? I'm curious too but running both ecutek and unichip would be a hella expensive solution.
Pretty sure brzedit personal version allows the end user to fiddle with a previously installed tune, assuming the person that first installed the tune chose not to lock it.

FRSGeek... thanks for the inputs and I'll pass them along to the software engineer.

Guys, as an aside, when you're programming the Unichip, unless we specifically tell you to update the firmware... don't. Remapping and updating the firmware are two very different processes and in 99% of the cases there's no reason to update the firmware.

Firmware updates are very communication intensive and if your PC decides to do some background housekeeping task in the back ground, the Unichip can miss a message and get temporarily locked up. It's not a huge deal in that all you have to do is another firmware update to get unlock it but sometimes it takes several attempts to do it. Mapping is really robust and you'll never have any issues with that.

Yes, you can use the Unichip regardless of what's been done to the ECU in terms of a reflash... but obviously the mapping will look different and somebody has to build that map.

Cheers

Does the Unichip has the capability to prevent the issues mentionned in this thread(Leaning out when quick shifting at high rpms killing the DI seals).

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42849

If yes, i'm sold and will order soon. I'd rather not reflash my ECU yet to avoid warranty issues.

No, you can't fill in the empty values in the transient ignition retard table above 5500 rpms in the stock ECU calibration with a piggyback like Unichip.

You need a reflash to save your DI seals from destruction from that transient detonation can cause them to fail and allow a lean condition or misfire to develop over time. Or just don't upshift too quickly above 5500 rpms and use quality 93 octane gas

Working on the FA20 Club maps... we had some fuel trim issues when we first worked on the intake and it got "bumped" down the line. We are working on it again.

Rapid shift lean out... while the Unichip can't populate any OE computer tables (not how piggyback's work), it's incorrect to say it can't be used to correct an issue like that. However, using a tune to correct what sounds a lot an OE design defect isn't prudent... a Band-Aid is rarely the solution.

Cheers

I will take a stab in the dark, high RPM / Idle issues......hunting for a stable idle, A/C on and A/C off idle difference......

Why do I say this, the TPS % jumps from 13% to 18% at idle with A/C on and I can temperately fix a high idle (1000-1300 RPM) problem (TPS above 15 - 16% at idle A/C on) by turning the A/C off and then back on.......but with A/C off no problem found

BTW, using Perrin intake with cat back standard 92 octane tune (for now)

Thanks! Let me know if I could possibly beta test the map or something. I have the Android Torque App paired with a bluetooth OBDII adapter, so I can check my A/F ratios, TPS etc to ensure I'm not killing my engine.
