Did that come from the sales guys? Be careful, they will tell you anything.

Truth is, it likely won't boil down to a Subaru vs Scion thing. I can see it being much more dependent upon individual dealers, service managers, and district/regional managers than anything else.

If we couldn't drive above 5000RPM, they would have put the redline there. No?

I do, in fact, own a BRZ. I've never dealt with Subaru before as far as warranty claims go as this is my first Subaru. Hearing/reading stories like this makes me want to avoid them as much as I can.

Oddly enough, it was the service manager at one dealership and the assistant service manager at another, so I have two options.

They won't touch my shocks anymore because I've lowered the car, but I asked about the DI and asked if they've heard anything about it. The assistant service advisor at mossy told me he hadn't, but not to worry about it. If the car was stock, they have no problem replacing it, even if I had raced it. He said, that's what the car was for!

As of now, my car will continue to be a DD. There are a lot of us guys that have taken these cars up to palomar and beaten on them up the hill. If I can do that, I'm happy. Car won't be raced until I can afford to wreck it and not worry about the loss. Not there financially yet.

I get this and I agree! I wanted to get the wife an STI. Let's just say that won't be happening.

It was. Nothing like open tracking (I am dying to try this), but I was surpised how much better it handled in stock form than my cobra did that was pretty well modified.

I don't know... Maybe it is just this forum but there seems to be a disproportional amount of warranty struggles with Subaru vs Toyota. I have no evidence to back this up but I usually try to keep up with warranty hassle threads.

Just try to get warranty coverage on a slightly modded STI. I dare you.

Well.... if you go in with a blown motor because you have an accessport, then that's on you.

On the other hand, I've seen more than a few STOCK STIs (unmodded drivetrains) eventually end up with blown engines that were not covered...

I do recall being a bit worried when I saw in my STI manual that 93 was the minimum.... I was like Uh... I can't get 93 here...
