Works for me!! I hope not, I want one! If you can mash the throttle at a stop and spin/smoke those Primacy HP's I'll drop it and just be happy. Deal? :happy0180:

LOL Unless you want to bore a hole through the firewall/dash and have a cone filter in place of your radio.

Maybe you have other ideas?
Yes I know, it's problem which is why the throttle was moved to where it is. It really was the simplest and most obvious way to make the kit work, it makes sense. Ideal? Well, that's debatable. An alternative solution would have to involve some out the box thinking. Then the question is would it be cost and time efficient/beneficial to implement? I've had some thoughts and think it's possible but I don't think it would have a good business case at all for mass production and easy user installation.

The easiest, most obvious solution would be to rely on the Subie hoodscoop or aftermarket hood and make a ram air box and modify the blower and throttle to a top feed solution. That's all prohibitive and something of a PITA. My other solutions are more strange and convoluted requiring a lot more development time, so I'll keep those to myself unless I actually make them happen.

First thing I thought when reading the last couple of pages…

Get the air filter right up there by the throttle body, and build a box around it that mates up to the hood (when closed) with a NACA duct to pull air into said box…

Are you guys assuming that air goes into the hood scoop on a scooby?

The bypass is cracked open with vacuum on this port. On mine it looks like it is about 15-20% open at idle. I have no idea what it looks like on my car at cruising but it is supposed to be cracked open then as well.

It shuts once there isn't enough vacuum (about 4-6 inHg) to overpower the internal spring of the bypass actuator (ie when you open the throttlebody butterfly enough and reduce the vacuum in the pre-supercharger plenum). Once it is shut, it cannot open until there is enough vacuum again (the valve itself is a butterfly type and thus the boost in the manifold cannot push against it to open it).

This helps keep cruising gas mileage in check.

Crusing 6th gear 2.5k to 3k rpm is the bypass open or closed?

02-03 scoops vented air at highway speed, and the 04-05 WRX was iffy. The 04-05 STI did take in air at a speed, but they had to boost the scoop up into the airflow. The 06-07 redesign actually saw a windtunnel during development so it does work on both the WRX and STI.

That's some interesting information. I've only tested older versions but suspected similar results from later models. I know some special editions have larger scoops, perhaps that's the difference. I'm somewhat amazed the intercoolers really do anything at all, but they do seem to!

...Also remember the blower is attached to the pulley system so it's a little different then a turbo. Your actually adding more rotational weight for the boost. This gives a weird peddle feel at low RPMS (2-2500) Kinda jumpy but once your above 3k the car screams through the rev range.... My traction control lights up in first around 4500 in a straight line if i'm WOT...
If you are experiencing any sort of delay, lag or stumble sub 2500RPM your tune needs further refining and you should contact your tuner. This can and has been addressed, both by Delicious Tuning (completed) and Moto East has an updated tune that also corrects this which will be released shortly. Again, you should not feel a low end tip in stumble or lag if the tune is dialed in properly.

Great news. @moto-mike - if the update is ready before tonight and you want to send the fixed version my way for the install tomorrow, feel free We had planned on doing dyno runs from 2K at the request of some posters in this thread.

Also, to be fair, other tuners may have addressed this as well, or have updated tunes pending, and I may just not be aware of it. In time, I am sure everyone who has a handle on the ECU whether they are using an open tuning solution or ECUTEK has or will have it figured out.
