there is no need to do any of that. i gapped mine down without disconnecting anything except the metal shield thing on the right side of the engine bay, and the ecu box on the left side. just need to wobbly extensions and a relatively thin wrench.

Can you post up the exact tools you used? I still might make an investment, but this allowed us to get it done with a simple standard 3/8" ratchet, a 3/8" spark plug socket, and a 9/16" deep socket.

Two craftsman 3/8" wobble extensions, a regular short (2" I believe?) extension, and a regular craftsman 3/8" ratchet. I used a regular 14mm socket as opposed to a spark plug type socket. The key is that you first attach the wobble extension to the socket and push it into the plug hole, then add another wobble extension and push in a bit further, then the regular extension, then insert the wrench into the end. That'll let you crack it loose then you can remove the wrech and take pieces off one at a time as you pull it back out. It's actually not difficult at all after the first time (once you learn to remove the ecu thing ��and shield lol).
