Wonder if it's possible to simply add a GPS antenna to enable the navigation function on the standard head unit.

Also notice temp set at 72 without AC or circulation on is quite warm. My friend who owns a Prius also agrees the air blown in is too warm. Is it only me or it's true to all other FRS 10?
Welcome!

You can either get the new BeSpoke/Nav module (sits on top of standard head unit, antenna goes under the gauge cluster hood on top of the dash), or the Toyota Entune Nav module that also works with this head unit.

I'm not sure how you expect the HVAC to cool the air temp without the AC turned on. Your scenario is just fresh air coming through the vents, after flowing over a hot hood.

I typically keep mine on auto at 68. If it starts to get too cold, I dial it to 70-72. The interior heats up quick when parked during the day, and I love how the auto setting blows icy cold air full blast as soon as you start up, tapering the fans down gradually as the temp drops. If the outside temp is cool enough (below 70), then I turn off the AC and re-circulation off, and manually set the fan where I want it. I haven't had any problems with that air being warmer than expected, at least not while moving.

Thanks for the info! I came from an old mercedes that 72 auto is much cooler than that of the FRS. I am just a little surprised by the big difference between the two. Let me experiment it one more day. This afternoon the outside temp was 62. I turn on AC and recirculation alongside auto 72. It was so warm that I sweated.

I will try to see if I can get a hold of the bespoke or entune module

Oh, no doubt there are more expensive ones....even ordinary FR-S's! I was noting the precise sticker price of $29,430 that is the base AT model.

Anyhow, Cars.com has a transmission search filter. None are listed as MT...they are either AT or unknown. For fun I expanded the search to be nationwide...there are 89 of them at this price.

I'm trying to get a sense of how many are sitting on dealer lots at any given time, because even though I've had one on order (due to arrive any day now), this particular moment is not the best time for me to necessarily get a new car.

Question for those with the GPS option (SpyderDan!): When in 2D North display (my default), does yours accurately display North at the top of the screen? Mine starts that way but within a few turns loses it and then there's no way to tell which way is North. I'm wondering if it's a software glitch or operator error.

True, but be careful and look at the photos first, if available. Because the MT 10 series I saw was listed as an AUTOMATIC on the dealer sheet! So the people who list them may or may not always get something right.

There was a sheet somewhere that posted all FRS Sales for Scion last year and I'm pretty sure it was less than 2500. I think even though the 10 series is a special car, the market for these is a bit limited. I mean, if they only made 500, I think they'd all be gone by now.

2500 for all of 2012 seems inaccurate. Hell, there are VIN #s higher than that. :happy0180:

I keep mine on the 3D mode (no option for North up), but I did play around with the 2D North a bit on day 1 and it seemed to work fine. I'll have to experiment with the 2D North mode on my way home tonight and see if I can get it to glitch.

It has annoyed me that the other modes do not have a North indicator. Seems like a big oversight.

I have a Prius with auto climate comparing the Prius to the FRS, it seems like the FRS system isn't as smart. For example: on hot days when you get in the car, both will crank the fan speed and go into recirc mode, when you shut off the climate control in the Prius it turns off the recirc, but in the FRS it stays on. I also notice when the FRS goes from recirc to fresh as the air seems quite a bit warmer.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but for serious FRS owners there is now an officially sponsored drink. Should work for both car and driver.

#0008 is home finally where she belongs. Will upload pics when I have a chance, was too busy driving around, and installing the JDM tips (huge difference in look of rear), and trunk lid liner. Already had a guy take out his phone to take pictures as I was parked, so that makes me smile.

Next mods for future are TRD sound changer, JPM coach work or JDM knee padss.

Edit: oh and not sure how it happened, but I was able to get pioneer upgrade audio installed. Dealer said they never heard about shortage, and that it is dealer installed, not port installed. I really thought it was the latter.

Huge oversight. Garmin does it better for less. I wonder if the map updates will cost and if so, how much?

The Scion.ca website doesn't list it as a dealer installed option...so I find it "curious" that they installed it at the dealership. My guess is that they took it out of another car and put it in yours, which, I wish my dealership would have done. I was told by the sales manager at my dealership that the only dealership in Canada allowed to install the upgraded stereo is in Markham (or somewhere in that area if I remember correctly) and the reason for that is because until the cars are released to other dealerships from their "yard" they are considered to be part of the build process. Weird.
