Use these settings with stock HU:

Using these settings made the sound much much much better. Also, a small sub will do wonders. 8" I think was perfect. Clean, strong, and enhances the stereo just right without overpowering it.

I have also considered the Gen Coupe. (Who hasn't?) Specifically the 3.8 Track. I wanted the Nav and Blue paint and the R-Spec offered neither option. Anyway I sort of came to the same conclusion. Not necessarily because of the build quality. I don't have any personal experience with Hyundai, so I can't speak to that. But I've read lots of reviews on both cars and they just seemed to be more favorable toward the BRZ for driving experience.

I look at it like this... It's like having a really GOOD meal vs a Vegas style all you can eat buffet. If the the food is really good, you don't need to stuff yourself to feel "satisfied". I used the same reasoning (among other reasons) when I bought the 328i instead of the 335i.

2. Google some pics of crashed frs / brz / gt86 and then realize the only fatality (that I know of) was that asshole that slid off a cliff into the ocean. iihs top safety pick.

3. Downshift, sport mode, downshift, punch it. It's kind of like the brz cheat code for passing.

6. You don't know what you are in for but... It's like trying to describe sex to a virgin. It's gonna be fun, go do it! But in the spirit of wearing protection, don't turn off TCS without a lot of experience doing so in safe places! Even then only do it in safe places... You don't want to be that asshole at the bottom of the cliff!!

10. Get over your self old man :p I met a guy at the scca event the other day who went out and bought this car and got back into autocross, a hobby he had not done since BEFORE YOU WERE BORN. nobody is too old for the brz, they just get to an age where they take themselves too seriously to have any damn fun.

And when you look at the numbers, I think he was right.

However, I was just at the SoloPro auto cross this past weekend and saw no less than 10 brz/fr-s's competing. I did not see a single gen coupe. Something has to be better about the brz than the gen coupe beyond the numbers

That is because all of those pieces of shit were in the shop.

I think @manwithnoname may have already died or perhaps just stopped caring.

sorry off-topic but is a 2005 lotus elise (base model) with a 190hp almost the same hp as the frs/brz be a good buy? i know its 8 yrs. old but is the
"driving dynamics" comparable?
JUST DRIVING dynamics? NOT the reliability/cargo st...
would the lotus be a good buy?

How much are they asking? What mods does it have? How many owners? Tracked or not?

I've come extremely close to buying Elises and Exiges a few times, so I've done extensive research and have been on the Lotus forums for several years. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I definitely know what's a good deal and not.

I should imagine a Lotus Elise/Exige to be much more of an uncompromising track machine - you'll likely get much sharper dynamics, at the expense of everyday-livability (not sure how potholed your local roads are).
At the very least, I'm sure that 2zz-ge sounds better than the FA-20 (on the flipside, from what I've heard/read, the radio is really there for ceremonial purposes)

*it is a 2005 elise base model NO modifications were done. It is not tracked, (what they say)
*11,000 mileage.
* title is clear

I have very limited knowledge about lotus so whats the BIG diff. between an exige and elise? which is a better buy? another question.

* is the engine reliable? (the car as a whole)
* how is the car's body parts, if you damage lets say a fender is it "VERY EXPENSIVE" to replace?
*some review says car is very noisy and suspension is bad

thanks again

All 2007 and up Exiges are supercharged. Exiges have a roof scoop, which feeds air to the intercooler. Exiges have different wheels, usually black, and better suspension. That's it, for the most part.

Yes, the engine is super reliable. It's a 1.8 liter Toyota 2zz-ge with vvtli (Vtech).

Yes, body damage to a Lotus is your worst nightmare. A front clam is like $5,000. The whole body is fiberglass, unless you get an Exige S 260, which has a gratuitous amount of carbon fiber... even more expensive.

I can't speak about the suspension of an 8 year old Elise, but yes, it's a relatively noisy car. But if you're a genuine Lotus-type, you won't much give a shit. A lot of people buy them because they're the only affordable exotic car they can get their hands on, and they are (subjectively) gorgeous. Then they realize how hardcore the car is and sell it. They're a bitch to get into and out of, they have no power steering, they're noisy, fragile, feel cheaply made, visibility is... well you can forget about visibility, maintenance is expensive unless it's to the Toyota engine, and about a million other things that make people regret their purchase. I love the fuck out of them.

At 11,000 miles, not having been tracked, and just one or two owners, I would think about $33,000 would be a fair price. Mind you I haven't shopped for an Elise in years. I almost bought one in 2007, but luckily that fell through (salvaged title) and I turned my attention to Exiges after driving one. I came pretty close to buying an S 240 about two months ago, so I'm still pretty up to date in Exige land. I ended up going with an FR-S though. I am certainly not a rich guy, so it was a much more responsible decision.

You really need to drive one. I love them. I would buy one in a heartbeat. But there is no way in hell I would use it as a daily driver.
