This makes me happy we don't have Scion in Australia.
This is how Toyota promotes the 86 in Aus. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qERnHRMupbQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qERnHRMupbQ[/ame] |

What's really great about that Drift King ad is the little touches like the 2000GT making a cameo and the 8mm filter giving it a retro 70's/80's look harking back to the time when Toyota was in fact the king of lightweight affordable RWD cars i.e. Celica RA28, AE86 Corrola, SW10 MR2.

I do like the first video. The juxtaposition of your current life and how "unfree" the guys feel (based on reactions) and the idea of regaining the freedom of youth by buying an 86 works well.
That second one is pretty bad though.

This is the only FR-S commercial that I have seen on TV.
I have seen some of the others on YouTube, but, that's it. Scion needs to realize that people who buy this car are those who have heard that they can regain driving enjoyment again. I think that aside from the above, we are a pretty diverse demographic. Taking obscure singers, skateboarders, and artists and throwing them in an FR-S is backwards. These people may enjoy the car, but, we are not all artists and hipsters. They would have been better off doing a montage of forum members talking about how they love driving the car if they wanted testimonials. Show some of us driving the Tail of the Dragon at the same time. |

While this ad isn't the best (By far) it does show (Like other have said) that anyone can have fun in this car.
But I will say that Scions marketing is part of the reason I bought this car. I haven't seen Subaru showing up at Formula D events and sponsering drivers or giving all kinds of free gear away. but Scion sure is. Even before The FRS showed up they were out there supporting the sport of drifting. Hope fully they can pass nissan and ford in the Formula D Manufacturer cup ( Lexus is in First) We need these guys to step it up: Ken Gushi Home | Drivers | Ken Gushi ![]() I am the driver of the Greddy/Scion Racing Hankook FR-S. Drifting was introduced to me as a young teenager even before having my license. My father has been my role model growing up. At the age of 15, I became a professional driver in the Formula Drift Series. In 2005, I finished the FD series in overall 3rd place championship ranking. I also have experience doing rally, autocross, time attack, and some road racing. In 2011, I won the Toyota Pro Celebrity Race in the Long Beach Grand Prix. Stunt driving is also in my resume. Check me out.Tony Angelo Home | Drivers | Tony Angelo ![]() Tony Angelo is a pioneer of the sport of drifting in the United States and is widely considered a legend within the industry. Angelo has a strong connection to the grassroots-drifting scene and is well respected by both professionals and amateur drifters for his contributions to the sport's development and growth. Tony has had a significant influence on the American style of drifting as one of its first drivers and event promoters. He's a founding and active member of the Drift Alliance team, one of the most successful teams in the Formula Drift series. With top finishes and impressive results, Angelo displayed his talent as a top-level drifter for five consecutive years competing in both Formula D. In 2009, Angelo made a career transition when he stopped competing in the U.S. to take on the role of a judge and technical manager in Formula D, heavily revamping judging and scoring format for the better. Angelo simultaneously gained international recognition, coaching, judging and conducting clinics in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, and finishing top 8 in major events Malaysia and Belarus. Tony is back in 2012 with avengeance, hopping into the #33 Scion tC for this year, and making his comeback.Ryan Tuerck Home | Drivers | Ryan Tuerck ![]() ![]() Fredric Aasbo Home | Drivers | Fredric Aasbo The Norwegian Hammer -2012 Formula Drift Fan Favorite Driver of the Year Award-2012 Formula Drift Best Drifting Style Award -Winner of 2012 and 2011 British Drift Championship Silverstone Super Pro -Winner of 2011 Formula Drift UAE Invitational -Winner of 2011 Formula Drift Texas Speedway Invitational -2010 Formula Drift Rookie of the Year Award -Best European Drift Team – Red Bull Drifting World Championship 2008 -Nordic Drifting Series Champion 2007 & 2008 -60+ podium finishes on three continents since 2006 |
