I did just order some aluminum for the backplate, drill bits, reamer and tap that I will need for the machining.

I'd be curious to hear if any others are actively working on anything.

Also I did come across this which is probably what Pantom based their design off of although to their credit they have refined it considerably.

I don't really recommend spending the $20 for the book. You probably won't get much useful information that's not already in this thread. I did buy it just to see so if I glean anything useful from it I'll be happy to share it.

It takes a few things to be able to do this.

1) Access to the necessary equipment.
2) The necessary skill set.
3) A slush fund.

You appear to be the only one with all three. More power to you, man. We're all watching to see what you come up with. When you get to the point where programming and electrical design come into play, there are others who can help, but for now it looks like it's you.
I, for one, say thank you for sharing what you're learning.

It's been a while so I thought I'd give a quick update. I'm pretty much ready to machine the backplate and motor shaft, but need to find some time to get to the shop.

After continuing to look into the possibility of using Unichip to control the supercharger I've decided it's the way to go. It's already getting RPM, throttle position, and MAF sensor data, plus has additional configurable inputs and outputs. I just got my Unichip software tuning license, but from what I can tell it should be pretty easy to make a submap to control the supercharger. If you don't already have unichip this adds considerably to the cost of building the system, but it also provides the ability to tune the engine to properly handle the supercharger.

One last thing, I'm starting to put together the intake fittings:

So this is not directly related, but if you haven't already seen it take a look the link.

Modding a car has risks involved even if you think your buying/installing a quality product. Anyone attempting to build their own electric supercharger, or even buying someone else's kit should keep this in mind.

What does that have to do with this project? He installed a fuel kit with the wrong size fuel lines. This has nothing to do with fuel.

As I said its not directly related. I just posted it to emphasize that there are risks involved with any mods.

People all too often just assume because something is a kit, or someone else did it that its safe and they can do too. This often is not the case, especially when it's something new with limited testing.

Well lets face it there are a lot of people on this forum who are basically kids and need that sort of reminding from time to time.

True we're not dealing with fuel here, but we are dealing with electricity which can just as easily start a car fire if not handled correctly.

This might be review for all you computer savy folk, but I'm thinking these have potential:
http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1350
http://www.robotshop.com/absolute-ga...0-400-kpa.html

Keeping in mind that I don't know crap about code, but it seems like it shouldn't be impossible for this controller to read both the TPS and pressure sensor to adjust the ESC to produce a desired amount of boost. This might even possibly be referenced to RPM if you could make that a 0-5v input.

Maybe I'm completely nuts, I'm a mechanical guy and the closest I've ever gotten to electronics was a lot of electric RC as a teen and building/tuning a MS1.

I do however think that optimizing this system requires more than just on/off control. Building enough power into the system to produce good amounts of boost up top will create the problem of too much boost on the bottom end. Unless a person just wants it to fill-in the torque curve while developing a little more up top.

Grant, the problem is what do you adjust on the ESC in order to control it without loosing a ton of electrical power to heat? If this was an AC device it would be easier. A switching power supply might be possible, but it would be huge. Anything else I can think of would just throw too much heat and be too much of a drain.
