Looks good quality to me, anyone who says other wise feel to get out in your own garage and build one yourself. And please post pics when your done.
Those small burrs will have zero effect on performance.

The collector also has a couple cracks in the first few pics.

I wouldn't jump to calling that a crack. Yes it would be nice to see the pipes butt completely together but thats a small gap in fit up. Collectors like that are welded on the out side of the pipes so thats not going to leak or anything.

If you look hard enough on something like this no doubt you can make it look bad. (hand made)
As mrk1 said, they are welded from the outside. While they are sharp as a knife prior to welding, steel does warp and you can get a bit of a gap. Entirely inconsequential in comparison. I've seen the borla and the revworks header here, and boy if I took my macro lens to those guys, the above would look saintly in comparison. But I won't because I know how hard it is to do it by hand. You're leaving out the rest of the welds that aren't mig welded, cooked, or otherwise sloppy. O2/EGT bungs are always a PITA in thin wall tubing like this, and as much as you can grind the inside, you can only go so far. Look at the pics of those other headers. Backpurge is ideal, but when you get to the little stuff, it becomes quite challenging on a boxer....no die grinder long enough. You were unhappy with the timing, but have a look at your other options before you throw this one under the bus. If you look closely you'd do best to hold on to that one real tight. It may be hard to get it unless you've spend some time behind a welding lid, but all that little stuff is nothing when it comes to something this complicated. |

Lets not forget these also have a lifetime warranty. This is the highest quality UEL on the market no doubt. Best collector I've seen. I'm not worried at all. I just look at the Borla header and I get all the LOL's out of the way when I come back to this one.

I'm wondering if anyone that's received there's yet that also has the Nameless axle back and overpipe with high flow cat and helmholtz is noticing any drone whatsoever. How's that for specific?
I'm very sensitive to drone as it gives me headaches. If there's no drone then I'll be happier than a 40 year old virgin in a brothel with a gift card.

look how razor sharp and clean that merge collector is. Do we really need to put up a borla pic to compare?
I will hold my tongue because i'm not sure if ft_sjo 's intent was to bash the "quality" of the collector or if he was merely posting pics of the collector, but if you are seriously complaining about that you need to get a hold of yourself. @ft_sjo - you put it on yet? If so what are your impressions? I'm surprised you didn't check the flanges as well. |
