"dEAD CLICKS" ON TEIN ST FLEX

is there such a thing as dead clicks on tein flex? I recently installed Street flex, and there are 26 clicks. the description for flex are 16 ways dampener, so the rest of the clicks are useless? Is this a common thing for tein? for any coilovers?

Yes that is correct, my Tein Flexes are the same way. I was worried about it so I asked my friend that works at Tein. It does nothing past 16 clicks.

Yup clockwise is stiff and counter-clockwise is soft. I clicked it all the way to soft(counter clock) and then counted up to the stiffness to my liking. GL!

Start from full stiff and the back off from there. Definitely not an issue for the shock. My set of custom valved TEIN SRC CSG Spec on the S2000 have 30 clicks on rebound and compression, but only the top 16 clicks work. It still runs like a champ.

"Top 16 clicks" as in if you were to turn it all the way clockwise until it stops? Then turn counter clock until desired? Thank you, I did not know that. I must get off work and try this....

Basically go full stiff, which is clockwise until you can't click. If you feel a half click when you turn counterclockwise, that is either click 1 or the next click is the 1st click. This is just to give a safety buffer on the valve adjustment. Then back off about 8 clicks which is in the middle. Drive on the road a bit and find out if it's hopping over bumps or soaking them. Adjust from there.

This middle setup 8clicks back from stiff is for all 4shocks?

Or you suggest more click in the front (stiff) and less in the rear?

Hopping or bouncing? Hopping I would say go softer, bouncing go stiffer.

Bouncing means it's too soft. Hopping means too stiff.

Sorry for digging out this old thread, but as you can see on my thread from two days ago, I've got the same "problem" with my Teins. I can turn the adjustment knob about 30 times until it stops clockwise or counter-clockwise.

Hopefully one of you guys from this old thread will read this:

Did it harm your coilovers somehow on the long run when you set the dampening adjustment at above the 16 recommended clicks counter-clockwise? Or did you recognized any disadvantages from turning the knob on the "dead clicks" range? Since this thread is a bit older, maybe someone can report about what happened on the long run with your Teins when using the "dead clicks" or turning once the knob to this dead click range.
