That's certainly a possibility. Positioning and orientation would be important factors for avoiding that kind of thing though.

Do you know what kind of a pricepoint you would be looking at? I know others have favored your exhaust because of the pricing so I am wondering if we are going to be making a huge jump for something like this?

The exhaust pictured above is for Nissan R35 GTR. Here's a video of the difference in sound levels:

It's pretty much a dull exit design with an electronically controlled valve on one side.
The side with the electric valve is straight pipe with no muffler or restrictions.
The other side has a muffler to help quiet down the exhaust when you are just cruising thru town.

I plan to make the side with the muffler with a slightly smaller diameter piping and a well packed muffler to keep the noise level down.
On the electric valve side it will be a 2.75 inch piping (proven diameter to make power on a FRS/BRZ) and with either straight pipe or a high flow muffler.

What do you guys/gals think? If there's enough interest, we might just put this into production.
My only question : What does it weigh ! if its the same as original or less ill buy it right now!

For example, you could put the cutout before the muffler on the Perin axle back and achieve the same results. Cutouts are illegal in most places anyway so I wouldn't worry about where the exhaust is being vented too much if that's a concern.
Or just use a Varex muffler I'm probably going to do just that after i get my header.

Aren't cutouts known to malfunction because of all the large heat fluctuations with exhaust pipes? I thought about getting a cutout when I had my WRX, but after doing a bit of research found out they can get stuck and stop working.

Most are put really close to the collector at the engine, or in the case of your WRX, in the down pipe. It will see much higher temperatures in those locations. Putting one at the back would, in theory, see lower and more stable temps. So it should last longer.

I'm just curious. Is there any "sacrifice" in performance by having noise adjustable exhaust? I'm assuming that when the valve shuts-off, there would be some kind of trapped gas creating "un-even" flow. Will this affect anything as far as performance wise?

I would be interested in this. My car is multipurpose. So I want Auto X light weight and free flowing, but also want quiet for the wife and kids on a road trip. Quiet slipping back into the neighborhood.

This is the same reason our WRX wagon has this custom set up I built with the help of my local shop, and an XForce Varex muffler. Its heavier than what I would want for my BRZ, but is great for dual purpose Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Agreed, and titanium would be amazing, but spendy. Not afraid of cost if it can truly do dual purpose + light weight.

I want one

Hook me up please!!! I have a DD and want it loud, well, sometimes!! I'm so used to my motorcycles. I like hearing exhaust to be able to hear the RPM to shift, rev match, blip etc. It's hard to hear with stock exhaust.

BTW, I went ahead with my custom varex catback. My advice, use a large resonator and a smaller can than what i used.
