this is crazy expensive! its almost the same as the price difference between base fr-s and the 10 series EXCEPT NO OTHER GOODIES

seems like a waste of $$

True but at the same time those that have a regular fr-s would lose more on a trade in anyway so it kind of evens out.

Does the trunk lid stay open or tend to sag from the extra weight?

Looks great tho, and the price is right.

Hi guys, I'm new, but I've been following this particular thread for a while. Finally felt the need to ask because I'm worried my dealership has been jerking me around for a while.

Is anyone on here from the DC area, and has gotten ahold of a manual transmission 10 series? The dealership I put my deposit down with almost two months ago originally said it would be in the first week of July. However now its the 24th and still no VIN or definite arrival date. They also had been saying that it would be coming into port at Newark, NJ. However the most recent update I got from them had said New York (and still no arrival date at the dealership).

To make matters worse I talked to another dealership that pulled up the list of all the 10 series being shipped to the area, and told me that the dealership I put my deposit down at isn't on that list. He even showed it to me. Luckily, he let me reserve one at his for no charge, but theirs isn't in until mid August.

Basically, just wondering if anyone has a manual transmission on hold in the DC area and knows when they are getting it, or if anyone around here has one already.

I would start trying to locate one and if you find one before your dealer delivers, then move on. Dealers will say and do just about anything to get your money. The nice thing is that you are within driving distance to a lot of high volume dealers, so should be able to find one if you keep looking.

The spoiler is very light. No probs with trunk. Just flip it up and it opens all the way on its own

My dealer specified the port of entry to be NY when in fact the port was Newark. I'm not familiar with the dynamics of cargo processing in New York harbor but the fact that Newark is in New York Harbor may be significant.

The information that I was given from my dealership in MA was: dep given late April, est arrival 1st week of June, actual arrival 1st week of July. Then, after 6 visits and moderate negotiating I took delivery on 7/19. Good luck, and don't be afraid to play games of your own with the dealer. Tell them that you have a dep down with another dealership and that you are going to take whichever vehicle hits first.

Did you flip the switch on the bottom of the steering column?? This feature is turned off in the factory (as well as rev indicator, alarm system, and gear indicator).

umm... the spoiler isn't gonna affect the trunk in any way... my 530's trunk weights about 10 times what the FR-S trunk does and it has similar dampers holding it up... lol

I'm almost fed up with my dealership. I'd walk away if it wasn't the only Scion dealer within reasonable distance.
-After signing deposit papers on May 15th, they told me a late June delivery.
-Then they pushed it to mid July, then finally they said July 29th guaranteed.

It's on course for delivery next week (fingers crossed) but after multiple visits in which I told them which options I'd like, I was told today that options are locked and its too late to add the one thing I wanted - the spoiler. They said I can give them the car and they can install it later; but seriously, after over two months of being thrown for a loop I'm kinda angry. I know its just the spoiler, but I've waited long enough and they have been completely detached and inconsiderate during this process.

Merr, I just needed to vent

I'm not sticking up for your dealer at all, they were most likely in the dark about the stop sale that lasted most of June and if they took your order May 15th they missed the June build order cutoff date of the 10th so your car was bumped into the July build.

Also, despite asking up until the last day, I couldn't get the spoiler port installed either. As it was, I had to wait an extra week for fog lights. It was Toyota, not the dealers, who dropped the ball both with customers and dealers with poor communication and accessory distribution.

Anyway, sorry for your distress. Too many of us around here have been through the same wringer but it's unanimous, it's worth the wait.
