Yea you can't say the Innovate doesn't have higher potential any more! That is as much power as this chassis will ever need on the street. I was reading "Supercharging" by Perkin's-Davis yesterday. Its interesting how when it was written Vortech used engine oiling/cooling just like a turbo. I don't know what the claims are from Vortech with the switch to sealed bearings on their centrifugal blower but it has to have a lower lifespan than the a good twinscrew? I got 115k miles out of an the factory Eaton SC on my thunderbird supercoupe, that was a nice car for its time RWD+ IRS, a bit like the Twins only too heavy. It had the same wind-up sound as the videos posted on the innovate, so a bit of nostalgia for me. The book is very complimentary about Eaton, Begi, and Opcon positive displacement blowers which supplied OEM superchargers back then. All the TRD kits they show in the book are positive displacement and no not all of them are intercooled. Don't think there has ever been a centr. supercharger offered by an OEM or as an OEM upgrade. It looks like Spintex supplied OEM chargers to MG Rover Australia and Ford Motor Company in the past which says a lot. I think people will be all over this thing if someone sells it with a basemap for BRz-Edit or the new Flash Tablet.

How rich is it? Do you have an AFR gauge or are you using the oem sensor?

You're crazy if you run water/meth without an ecu that can hook up to a failsafe. Bottle run out, motor go boom. Not cool.

A) only use the water/meth for short bursts of power, then switch it off and back to a normal map. B) keep an eye on your bottle level and don't let it get below a certain point (low fill level line drawn with a sharpie works). C) install a float gauge with a low fluid light somewhere inside. i would argue that it's a much better idea to just run the system within it's limits on the fuel you have available and not worry about it. if you want more power, use something with higher limits that meets your needs.
water/meth is an accident waiting to happen. what are you going to do when you go on a road trip? carry a bottle in the trunk? it's like nitrous in that the power is only there the the bottle is full, only difference is when it runs out your engine blows up. not a great solution to the problem of not making enough power. |
