I don't know on this particular ECU so I can't comment.. Although I would bet it logs updat counts safely away. They do on the corvettes and some have been denied warranty cause of it. Many did it just for a tire resizing or diff change.. But GM recognizes an unauthorized update count and assumes tampering. I was always happy with the stock power.. But many want more... Imagine that..

Haha yeah that's true, although what if we use two ECUs? Just swap one in with stock mapping for warranty fixes? How would that work?

From what I am reading so far, your setup makes the most power along with the tune. I want the header and OP, when are you going to have them ?

The ecu does have the vin. I'll hook up my car to a laptop after work to see if it has a reflash count. I think if you had another factory ecu, it could be programmed to show your vin. I dunno, I'll do some more research and post it up.

So I hooked up my car to a laptop at work and the ECU on these cars doesn't show a reflash count and if you get a new ECU the VIN can be written on there... but you'll need to know someone with dealer software.

Yes, red line beats blue line in a drag race every time, but I drive on roads and accelerate with traffic day in and day out. I'm not looking to win a race, I just don't want to have to dread the torque dip.

Still, 200 rwhp in a 2,700 lb car is just great. I'm glad to see it was done NA. Now if we can just fill that hole in the torque curve.

I'm waiting for the magic formula. I know its out there still.

if you do some searching in this section of the forums, there are dyno numbers, as well as comparisons between parts. don't forget to use the search function, as it will help find the stuff you need, and keep you from getting flamed. sometimes.

Gary, I'd agree with you about this setup. However, the similar HKS header nets a smaller dip. Look at this HKS vs. Borla UEL comparison.

The dip is still there, BUT it's only down on the Borla by ~5 ft-lb for around 400 rpm. The rest it has substantial gains.
