I think the biggest difference is cost. A new Evo is what about $34K? A new FR-S can be found in my are for under $25. So that would give you about $8-9K to mod an FR-S. I also thought the Evo was faster than it was, I just checked out Mototrend, and don't get me wrong it is a quick car, but thought it was sub 5 second 0-60 and faster in the 1/4 mile. So yes, I guess using forced induction in a twin and being able to beat an Evo is not a huge deal. But a good benchmark on what FI can do for you. My days of 300whp cars are over for awhile, so any of these cars are fast to me. |

This thread cracks me up. The FR-S/BRZ is a great car, and I'm sure it's a blast with FI on a stock motor. But... turbo'd FRS barely pulling on a stock evo shows just how truly pathetic the stock level of power is. Don't get me wrong. My Evo 9 is up for sale RIGHT NOW because I bought the BRZ and love it way more. But you cannot compare the Evo and FRS/BRZ in any way shape or form...

I wish I had over 250 RWHP in my FRS. I dont care if I still cant beat my M3 or stock EVO or STI etc.. If I make over 250 HP or near 300 in my FRS at least I'd still be faster than 90% of the cars on the road and not getting mad when I cant accelerate fast enough to merge into highway traffic.

I came from an evo 10 and went to the frs for financial reasons. The evo is a whole different animal. Plus with basic bolt ons and a tune I was in the low 12's when I was curious to see what it would run. I didn't get the frs to compare to others. The evo is still a much better car just has less personality

Coming from an VIII and an X, I can say that a stock evo is far from fast. My VIII would be a high 13 second car and the X was a low 14 because I did not want to abuse the clutch.
Fast forward a year in each car, and with bolt-ons the VIII make 301 on Buschur's mustang dyno (about ~350WHP on most dynojets) and was in the mid 12's. The X, with a catback and tune, made 293 on the same dyno and was in the low 13's on the stock clutch. Neither car was launched, just rolled out. Dollar for dollar, you can't compare an FRS to an evo. Having owned both, I can say I prefer the looks/handling of the FRS but miss the power/room/daily driver comfort and confidence the evo gives you. Everyone has different opinions, but that was my experience from owning both cars. |

The evo also starts at least 10k over an Frs new...
I've wanted an evo since 2002, just can't stomach picking up a used one or paying the insurance thanks to all the fanboys wrecking them... We can also say that we make more whp on a stock motor than an evo can. The evo will always be a very dominate auto in the tuner world and will always be a performance benchmark or comparison. It's the big impact car of the 2000+ generation until the GTR. The frs/BRZ is the impact car for the next 10 years

I owned a IX MR for +2 years until someone totaled it .. The Evo was a beast.
Having owned both as DD, I love the handling of both cars and the looks of the FRS a bit more but I miss the power/room/AWD. I think the FRS has a more comfortable ride, I didn't like to take long trips on my Evo. I'm still considering on getting another IX or a X.
