JR also took a shot at my car. He has been working on a few cars local to him, but wanted to get one on a dyno. The results were +8hp and +4 tq over a previous pump gas tune I was running NA. My Tq line is flat and the car feels almost like my E85 tune. I can't wait to see what he does with that.

All that being said, It's not complete yet. He's still getting familiar with the Ecutek platform, and that takes time and seat hours tuning. There are also a few minor things to work out, but seeing what he did with the P&L car, I'm confident it will happen. He also is a perfectionist and wants to make my Tq line Ruler flat.
That's good enough for me, he is getting experience with the car. I wasn't taking a shot at him since I have no idea who he is. Was talking about any tuner with ZERO experience in our cars.

I know you a little better than to think you were taking a shot at him, or anyone else rather. I just wanted to give a little background.

I was in the same boat as you as far as something important as engine tuning. A bad tune will cost you a lot more than the $250 you pay the tuner.

Botti is at least as good as Visconti: it's not hard to add fuel and BOOOOOOOSSTTT then claim huge gains like Visconti does.

See above. Most tuners familiar with Subarus are going to be adding more fuel and more boooooossstttt. That's all they know how to do, granted JR is among the most well-known tuners who posts results.

I don't trust a single tuner for this platform at this point in time.

Live tunes? You can't live map the OE ECU (at least with EcuTek).

There's not much different between someone doing it remotely or being at the dyno, other than the logistics of analysing data and sending new maps back an forth.

At the same boost level my fa20 tune makes more power and pulls way harder than Viscontis

Getting dyno done next Friday to find out some numbers

Fair enough. I prefer the trust, but verify mentality.

Tuning a car is not rocket science, but I feel the dual injection system can be a bit more complex for a person who has never tuned a DI system. Also, I would like to see them tune several N/A cars with results before tuning my FI setup.

I concur...but just to clear things up, Mike Botti tunes at EFI Logics now and has done/been doing FRS/BRZ's. I know this because I reached out to EFI since they were my goto after owning my STi for 8 years. Mike is now tuning for them after Chris unfortunately passed away. He just tuned a Turbo FRS last week.

I don't have first hand experience with him, but i've heard nothing but great things.

I still chose a tuner from this forum based off experience, but he was/is always on my radar, as EFI is one of the few places I trust my car being brought to.

What does it say about this forum when the Brony makes the most sense...

I would say that's about 90% true. you can get the majority of your power from an e-tune, but the fine tuning comes from the dyno.

That depends on the tuner, 60+ HP is not fine tuning.

That wasn't the comparison though.. it was local vs remote, no mention of dynos.
