The last Mazdaspeed 3 we tested was 0.1 second quicker in both tests. Launches were hampered by the "bog or boil" effect, where the engine either falls on its face or the tires spin uncontrollably. This is likely a drawback of the inertial effects of heavy wheels and tires."

this is barely faster than the stock FR-S

when mine was stock I ran the 1/4 in 14.72, and I calculated a 0-60 at 6.2
Depends on what you mean by faster. In a street/roll scenario the Caliber will walk an FRS with ease. Look at the trap times, the Caliber traps 100+ in the quarter and the FRS does like what 92-93? Thats a very big difference. People have ran bone stock Calibers in the low 14's.

When it comes to drag racing your 60' is very important and when it comes to getting a good time on your 60' RWD>FWD. That's why the times can be so close between the two cars.

Stock FR-S is actually 94-95 mph, but yes, that is a far ways off from 100. Basically the SRT-4 would be the equivalent of a V6 Mustang in a straight line.

Fastest published time I ever saw for a Neon SRT4 in the 1/4 mile was a 13.9

i'm sorry, all these validating factors of the caliber still don't change the fact that it looks like someone stitched together 2 ugly ass minivans and slapped a turbo on it. looks like the pontiac azteks little bastard child. yuck!

Why was this car even brought up? It's a POS and fwd. the neons were semi-cool, but for a domestic turbo four banged its up to Ford and the Focus ST.

The V6 engine is much better. Same old styling, chassis, live rear axle, heavy car, etc. Ford really has a chance to reinvent the Mustang with the next gen and I hope they do it right.

im not really looking to get into the differences of the current mustang and the six year old mustang. i was just trying to shed light on the fact that dark sunrise was talking about trap speeds that are faster than husker experienced by racing an older carl.

I ran a 13.4 stock in mine, in El Paso of all places (high altitude).

The Neon SRT-4 was awesome. Loved mine to death, still miss that car despite the limitations of FWD. Having that car for a year and a half on the autobahn while stationed in Germany was fun beyond words, especially making what should have been an 8 hour trip to Munich for Oktoberfest in 5 hours averaging around 125-130MPH
