So are the temp readouts not going to illuminate or are they just waiting on the wiring?

The LED back that would read the temps will not be functioning. Reason is because the ECU cant display the correct temp, it just goes off by where the back of the turn switch is. FR-S has manual climate; Limited BRZ and GT86 are all Automatic.

today was a crazy mod day. I will try to update everyday where I am in the build and what I have done that worked, or didn't work...consider this a "in progress DIY" because I am going off no instructions or layout...I am doing this the best way I can...

First step is mounting the switches to turn in the GT86 unit. Next is electrical. final is rechecking brackets, connections, stableness and function.

I was going to keep the three stock FR-S climate switches and use an internal gear to run the job wheel on each of the stock climate controls in the GT86 unit. THAT is a stupid idea. Why is it a stupid idea? because its like me sitting in my house, and asking the person next door to go check my mailbox, when all I need to do is get up and get it my self (LAME ANALOGY lol)

In the back of the FR-S's climate unit, where are 6 connectors. 2 of them go to the fan speed switch, then one connector branches out to connect to the Temp switch and the Mode switch (fan position control). There are two turn-able controls that go in the back of 1) the temp control: to control the temp from "as cold as it will go" to "as hot as it can go". 2) The mode switch: Head only, feet old, head and feet, etc.

I took the GT86 unit apart and used the LEFT (mode) and RIGHT (temp) side of the unit to stick the rotating connectors threw. I then attached the controls from the GT86 to the ends. To make the knob flush, I used some extra vinyl flooring I had lying around and made a makeshift brace to hold each control at the correct height and to insure stableness.

Right now, the GT86 unit is in my car. It has the Mode and Temp switches installed and functioning. The fan speed switch, however, is still in its stock mount, but it is hanging through the bottom of the unit (where the bottom tray/USB port is located). I am going to see how I can make an extender to reach through the GT86 unit and mount the silver ring to make it turn.

This is going to be tomorrows project....trying to find a way to install the fan speed switch...

All in all, today was a crazy mod day. I started working on this at 11am and it is almost 9. I need food and need to think and plan for my next move in the mod. But for now, enjoy some pictures I took today and a few videos.

I sound upset but I'm not; after being outside for 8 hours lol just was a hot day in New England...

This is what I ended the day with over all, I am happy to be at this point but still have a little ways to go.

Reason 89237237832647 why to get a Premium BRZ: DUAL CLIMATE

Do you think an ecu flash from a brz to an frs would help with getting some functionality?

I don't think so because of the harness plugs...also the dual unit I am modding/using is from a wrecked GT86 so it might have used their style harness

I already have an idea on how to go about installing the fan speed switch! If I get that done tomorrow, all that's left is running 6 or 7 red LEDs and installing the 3 push buttons on the bottom row for AC, defroster and inner air cycle!

I really love this panel as opposed to the Plain FRS one, but I think it would bug me if the digital readout didn't function. Unless you could make it say this:

I'm going to talk to my buddy Adam to see if he can program a read out on the LED panel on top of the switches. Left would say MODE, middle would say SPEED and right would say TEMP

Correct, as of RIGHT NOW.

Maybe down the road when Adam gets back we can try to make something for that.

Hey everybody!

Today I have mounted and installed the fan speed switch into the GT86. I have also Di-Noc carbon fibered the center of the rotating switches because they are not going to be used as push buttons and because it matches with my interior

Some Pics:

I have made a 3 minute long video today so kind of show you guys where I am in the build .This will be the last video till Adam gets back from being out of town. When he does get back, we will be installing the electrical side of the build. My hopes is to install six red leds to match the clock and dash when the driving lights are turned on. We are also going to be installing the AC, Inner curcluation and rear defroster switches in the bottom on the GT86 unit. 3 leds will go down there (or maybe 5) to show when a button is on or off. And to illumnate the backround of the switch.

All in all, I have done as much as I can till Adam comes back. Hope you guys like the video and will update ASAP
