If you have that interface, you can plug the tablet in to the car, plug he pc in to the tablet, then just make all your changes on the laptop and the tablet becomes totally transparent. Yes, brzedit does that, but it costs more ($500+200 for the cable, or $1500 for the unlimited license that you essentailly have here) and you don't have an option to change maps without a laptop in the car.

I agree all we need is an app for android that does all of this, and handles displays like torque. Tether over bluetooth or USB to OBD2. No need for really anything else. All full editing and open source flash/programming.

(Oh wait that won't make anyone money.)

This device attempts most of that but is proprietary.

Yeah, I really think an Android app and a cable would have been the way to go, and like I said, would be much cheaper to produce so the markup could be higher. But we can obviously work with this and be very happy with it.

open source is always better, i agree. i like that with this product you get something physical for your money, though. you can't sell an android app you're not using anymore. this at least beats ecutek and brzedit in that regard.

this could definitely have been done (or still could be done) using the android adk, but i think the integrated solution is cool in it's own way.

To be fair, that is not true. EcuTek has re written a sizable portion of the ECU code to allow for the RaceRom featues. This is MUCH more complicated than decoding maps since it requires re writing assembly code and replacing the original rom.

I'm a BRZedit / opensource fanboy, but i gotta give credit where it is due.

Everyone keeps throwing around that $1K price tag.... I got my EcuTek cable, tune, license for $700, and that is a Turbo tune.

None of it was bought on the initial groupbuy

You just have to look around.
