Update - Got the car back on-line. A local BRZ owner let me borrow his EcuTek cable and it worked! So it might be that I got a bad cable (awesome for the $350 price tag). Mike from Moto-East was super helpful. I don't expect a tuner to be available on a Sunday but he helped me out twice today to get this working.
Fortunately I got to drive a vortech-charged BRZ right after mine (we wanted to do a back-to-back comparison). My assessment is this....the two pull near the same from 6k rpms to redline. However, the Innovate smashes it from 4k-6k rpms. Both were fun to drive and are steps ahead of stock.

I've only burnt like 1/8 tank of gas and it's mostly been mashing on it. I'll give an update when I get through my next tank (maybe next week). It doesn't seem to be sucking down gas or anything but I'll get some real data up here soon.

Regardless, for $350 that's just unacceptable! Maybe a permanently installed OBD2 extension cable as @xjohnx suggested would be a good investment to avoid any risk of bent pins in the future. Also happy to hear that Mike was so helpful. I'm now wondering if the latest ProECU update is related to your issues yesterday. |

Update
I got a few things to discuss. I drove up to Pure Automotive today to bleed my brake system and install my new pads. I logged some data on the highway. Just cruising between 60-72 or so. Ambient temps were 95-97F. Heat wave in the mid-atlantic. About 15 minutes in: ![]() About 30 minutes in: ![]() About 45/hour minutes in: ![]() It seems like the oil temps climb pretty quick but as long as you back off the throttle and take it easy they moderate in the 220-230 range. Replaced the front pads with Wilwood BP-30 race pads. Replaced the rear pads with Carbotech XP-10s. Installed stainless steel lines in the rear (the Wilwood kit had them for the front). Flushed the complete system and replenished with Motul RBF 600 fluid. Driving Impressions - Wow!! These pads bite and bite hard. I'm hoping to do a little spirited driving this evening (going to try out some E85). These are a game changer for the car. Pics: Just a couple Innovate chargers hanging out (they were tuning the other on the dyno) ![]() ![]() ![]() Some pics of how things are holding up. After about 10 20-minute track sessions and a couple thousand miles. Front Tires: ![]() Rear Tires: ![]() Front BP-10 pads: ![]() Pure Automotive is having a huge meet on Saturday and their brand new DynoJet is up and running. They're going to incorporate a dyno day (and some live tuning w/ Visconti) so I plan to get my 3 pulls and see where I'm at.

@swift996: Those oil temps are without an oil cooler, correct? A cooler is next on my list and I'm doing the math on heat exchanger size.

Decided to give it a try:

Didn't know you had a tune for e85. Congrats on the build!

My oil temps are the same in South Florida with no FI..it's hot up there too so that's not bad at all for these cars. They obviously benefit from an oil cooler but I expected the oil temps to be worse than that.
I do like the TQ curve I'm seeing with these kits. I'm anxious for someone local to get one so I can check it out in person. I'm sure with some tuning you can really build some power with E85.

Nice build! A few questions.
Are you using the Dunlop Direzza's for daily driving? Are your esm's silver or gunmetal (couldn't tell from the pics but they match the car awesome)? Any rubbing issues/did you have to make any adjustments for this setup? Thanks again, look forward to following your build! |

My ESMs are silver. The gunmetal are very different looking. I like gunmetal but their finish on these just looks cheap to me. The silver finish is legit. I get compliments on them often.

It looks like it came together nicely.
We'll have to see datalogs for the E85 stuff and see where you're at. I'd guess it needs more fuel, especially with that header on there. RMA cable should be to you by tomorrow if not today. |
