Upgrade recommendation for non "tuners"
Hey all, I picked up my FRS a couple of weeks ago and I'm wondering what kind of upgrades you would recommend to someone who isn't a big "modder" or "tuner" (if those are the correct terms). I'm probably never going to track this car and already love the way it drives. So a lot of my interest would probably be in the cosmetic/luxury type upgrades such as LED lights, leather seats, push button entry/start.
Which upgrades like these have you made that you like the best and is it easy to have it done through the dealer? I'm guessing I'd want to do that to preserve my warranties. Although I think many cosmetic modes don't impact warranty like a supercharger would. Thanks for any info! |

armrest is a good start. JDM exhaust tips and side markers are good too. Also you might want to take up detailing since you wont be modding much. Give you some intimacy with your new car.

Im getting swift springs which i heard make the ride quality a lot nicer than stock, but makes it handle a lot nicer, and gives it a good drop.

TRD bolt ons for better sound, throttle response, marginal performance gains and warranty preservation. The stock tail lights look pretty ricey on some body colours (I think they look fine on raven), so that's an option for you. You can take apart the dash and vinyl wrap it, and use a whack of 3m tape to keep it from rattling (I'll be doing that if/when mine develops some rattles). Audio upgrades, Toyota badge swaps, side markers. I like the stock shift knob, but you can always change that. You can adjust the clutch grab height, there's a good diy on these forums. If you get cold weather, you'll want different tranny fluid if you're driving an MT. Easy to do. You can get some higher quality diff fluid as well.
Learning how to heel-toe also makes driving this car more rewarding. |

My #1 non-tuner recommendation are foglights. It makes the car look overall sportier, provide better vision when needed, looks stock, legal, and doesn't break the bank. Also can be dealer installed and won't void warranties.

The perrin minis look best to me
Wonder if you can just cut the factory in half and put a cap on the end or something |

The Subaru BRZ comes with a trunk lid liner that's a perfect fit for the FR-S. It really dresses up that area of your car nicely. Perrin 2" stubby antenna, arm rest, small plaque to fit the console indent in front of the console opening. I also removed the sound tube that routes noise back to the cabin.

The TRD intake deletes it, I think it's more quiet inside the cabin. Less mechanical rattle. Overall it's deeper, more refined.
