Got rear ended on Saturday night. What are my options?

I got rear ended by an old civic on saturday night. I have all the guy's info but he wants to pay cash. The image is at the the bottom. Even though it's almost nothing, you can't just replace the plastic part. It's part o fthe bumper so a whole new bumper has to be bought and painted. The painted part isn't damaged.

We all know it's never going to be like day 1. So what i'm wondering is what other options do I have besides getting a new bumper? I've seen CF splitter kits where it covers that entire part and lower part of the bumper but i'm not convinced it's not rice.

Inputs are welcome.

I have the same thing... dunno what to do really... I was thinking of reflective tape. You can always get a JDM band aid vinyl lol

Bumper costs about $200 unpainted, something to think about maybe...

TRD rear lip covers the entirety of the bottom plastic part of the bumper. It also requires cutting of it too though.

Get an estimate from your dealership and have the culprit pay you that amount. That will close the matter and allow you time to decide what approach to take.

Pretty sure you can get aftermarket diffusers where you cut that part out and put a different one in, get a quote from bodyshop, show the guy see if he will buy you new diffuser if its a bit more pay the diff if its not he will probably agree. Thats what i would do

Use the money and buy a nice rear lip to cover it

If you want it to stay stock make the guy pay for the new bumper and paint. If you want aftermarket options there is that as well.

Did you get a police report or anything?

I'm in a similar situation and I'm waiting on the other guys insurance to pay for my repairs. The rear bumper has holes from the license plate screws, and for the textured material, it has imprints from the plate frame and plate.

Go through insurance first to cover yourself. The damage might seem small, but you never know if there are any hidden damages.

I run a body shop, and have seen this happen too often.

You aren't at fault here, and you should be covered for everything.

Go through insurance, have everything documented, and if he wants to settle still, after you have re-inspected the vehicle, you can decide then.

Yeah, hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like it pushed/bent the tip to the right.

I would just get a complete estimate, in-person, from a body shop. There are times when it looks like there is no damage, but something is bent on the inside. Pocket the cash for the quote, then decide what you want to do.

The exact same thing happened to me on the drivers side. Inspect the crash beam, or whatever is called. Mine got bent. I took it to a body shop so it can get fixed properly.
