Couldn't wait for mine to come, so I went to a local store in the area and found one similar. The smell is indeed really good, but its not strong. I hope the cx one that comes in the mail is stronger and can last a while...

What is "new car smell", exactly? New plastic, leather, and carpet, right? So, technically if you were put something in the car that duplicated these smells, you could in fact replicate "new car smell". How do I know this? Well, like I said, crazy...

Take a square of carpet, a piece of PVC, and a swatch of leather, put them in ziplock with some holes punched in it and stick it under the passenger seat. Seriously, it works.

I hate, hate, hate, when I walk past someone's car on a hot summers day and smell someone's crappy air freshener wafting into my face. They never smell good, imo. I don't care what scent they are.

If I really wanted something scented in the car, a couple of dryer sheets under the seats is the way to go. I once left a box of Bounce in the car on a hot day and it smelled awesome in there the next morning!

Bounce needs to make a Squash fabric softener. That would be teh ultimate

Outgassing sealant, plastic, paint, adhesive. Basically the stuff that fogs the windows.
