Hey with the mod i have thus far i have a Greddy SP Elite Axle Back Exhaust and i want to put headers in... i although dont have a front pipe or anything its all stock... can i put headers in without installing everything else like front pipe mid pipe etc? and if so what seems to offer the most horsepower upgrade from what you have seen thank you !

iirc your axleback doesn't do much other than sound. Yes, you can put in headers and you'll see some gains. You'll see more gains when you upgrade your front and over pipe.
There's a lot of headers to choose from, you'll have to do some looking yourself. It comes down to personal preference... mainly in the sound department because you can choose between equal or unequal length and pretty much all headers come with nice gains. I'm personally waiting for the Nameless headers.

A good header will do the most to improve power delivery once tuned, filling in the torque dip. FA20Club and P&L's headers are both very similar design, EL, both available catted, and should give nearly identical gains. I have the P&L and I'm happy with it.
Nameless's header is also EL but a 4-2-1 instead of 4-1 and their dyno showed much higher midrange gains. UEL headers will give you the characteristic Subaru rumble. Technically speaking, UEL should see lower power gains than EL but at stock power levels the difference will be marginal, there have been some nice looking UEL dynos posted. I don't think there are any UEL headers available catted. By itself, a header probably won't do a lot other than alter sound. You'll want a tune to get the most of a header, more so than other bolt-ons. Really, a tune is the best money spent in the pursuit of power. |

Youll see the most gains out of the header as opposed to front pipe/overpipe/midpipe pieces. The header will be a really expensive mod, roughly $700-$1200 range for the headers, ceramic coating the headers will be around $350(price quote from Jet hot, best option for coating) and after a tune. Tunes range depend on what exactly you want, chip, personal tune from a tuner but they can range as well from $300 up to a easy thousand if you really want to squeeze every power out of the engine possible. Just be prepared to spend if headers is what you plan on doing.

Ideally you'd get all of them and you'll get some nice gains and also, like others have suggested, a tune would help you unlock some more power from your bolt ons.

Torque dip turned to torque bump, specifically a better looking bump than any currently available EL header has dyno'd previously on these cars.
