The MX-5 is mid-front engine. The AS1 not really.

Even when I added a 70lb roll bar I couldn't tell a difference in handling. The biggest difference I will see is when I ditch the stock 17" boat anchors and go to a 15". I can do more there than worrying how much my fmic weighs and what fractions of a second it's slowing me down. Stock 17x7's weigh 18-19lbs each, while the 15x9's I want weigh about 13.5. 4.5 lbs of unsprung weight off each corner is gonna be nuts.

first, they are saying the as1 is fmr. second, that has literally nothing to do with adding weight in relation to changing the handling

Miata is 50/50 the FRS 53/47 weight distribution. Say a turbo kit adds a total 75lbs. The miata weighs 2500 and say the fra 2700. We'll split the difference and say 2600lbs. That means about a 3% increase of weight up front. So the frs goes to a 56/44 ratio. So drop 2 pounds of unsprung weight off the front and now you're back to stock. Nevermind you add a set of coilovers and do some corner weighting.

I want a set of nickel 6ul's but for the price I'm just gonna get the c3m in a 15x9 in black with 225/45/15 rs3's. Just for a bit of something different I may add silver rim stripes just to break things up a bit.

Meh, Motegi trak lites weigh 10 lbs a piece for 15x6.5... and R comps at that size are super cheap.

well of course a 6.5" rim is lighter than a 9" rim but even with street tires the 9" rim is going to be as fast if not faster

i dont know if you realize that this conversation was about a miata but 15s are the way to go, its been practically proven. also you should probably tell every f1 team that using 13s is only slowing them down

Really? The entire Miata community would say otherwise, nevermind common sense.

I have shit brakes. Very aggressive pads, stainless lines, and ported/slotted rotors. At 40mph I can slam on the brakes and not activate the ABS.

How much are the Motegis though? The c3m is about $100 a wheel.

youre wrong about a bunch of those points just so you know. the fastest miatas ive ever seen have ALL been running 15s not just slow spec miatas. these are the miatas that set all time miata track records. for miatas, they handle the best. thats been proven. the new miatas dont have 15s because they are based of the rx8 and there are clearance issues but that doesnt mean that its faster. i dont know why you think a 15" rim means less rubber. if anything it would be more rubber.

as far as this car is concerned nobody knows what is going to be fastest let alone clear but that was never the conversation. saying that no sports cars come with 15s means they arent fast is like saying that no sports car comes with a 4cyl boxer motor so the frs isnt a sports car. why do f1 cars run on 13s?

So then do me a favor: google unsprung weight and tell why so many are so concerned about reducing it. Hell find me something that says you should increase or leave it the same. And while you're at it show me where I said miatas are the best handling.

And when does something coming stock with a certain item mean its the best?

No matter what, at the end of the day reducing unsprung weight is a very benficial thing. If it wasn't top race bodies down to grass roots racers wouldnt be concerned about it.
