Looked like a bunch of guys messing around having fun in a fun car, which unless I'm mistaken is a good 90% of this forum. They want the car to seem accessible to the average Joe, you don't have to be a track driver to have fun in it. Slap in some random diverse artsy type guys which is Scion's hip thing and it seems fitting to me. Doesn't seem strange at all.
I mean I didn't think it was a great commercial, but hardly odd and I get what they're promoting. And I'm assuming those guys reactions were legit and that's what they want to showcase. Last edited by oldpueblo; 07-13-2013 at 01:08 AM. |

I would like to consider myself part of the other 10% then. I hate to say this but if Toyota brands this car a scion for the next 10 years it might be a mistake. IMHO

I personally think it should have been a Toyota, I'm not a fan of the Scion brand. But as I said, I get what they're trying to do. It's just the wrong tactic I think.

Wow that was great. Very touching. That scion commercial was a joke though. They all are. Good thing it's still a good car haha.

You would think that scion would be able to make some nice commercials with this car? Honesty I like the way Dodge does the commercials for the dart. (This is how you make a cool car).

This ad is weird to say the least; I do like the new ad for the 2014 tC though, why couldn't they make one like that?

Dodge really knows how to make a commercial, that one with the American Revolution and the Challenger is easily one of the best ever.

im guessing its mostly saying that this car can be driven by anyone. And it really can, the car is very noob friendly, yet at the same time can be pushed by an experienced driver and still have enjoyment.

I'm still at work and haven't been able to see the video yet, but you have to remember: it's a commercial. Commercials are used for marketing. Marketing is to drive up sales. Sales are to make money.
Therefore, this commercial is simply trying to make money. Not only are the creators not concerned with such things as center of gravity, power to weight ratio, and body roll, they've probably never even heard of the such. Just like politicians, not educators, make laws about education, this fuckery was probably made by someone who is trying to make money, not an enthusiast. That being said, I still haven't seen the commercial and have no clue who made it. Could've been a group of retired F1 drivers for all I know.

I blame reality TV for this concept. The problem is that competent reality TV producers know how to fake everything and create "Drama". So why should Scion create inferior quality bullshit in order to promote a car that is the real thing?. The FR-S strength is that it is an affordable, basic sports car. Scion's strength is that they are relatively straightforward to deal with compared with most other dealerships.
But in terms of marketing, this is pretty poor. However, most car companies are pretty poor at marketing. Look at Buick stuffing Shaq into their car, or the pompous "Lincoln Motor Company." Last edited by FRiSson; 07-13-2013 at 01:20 PM. |

they cater to whoever's got the most money to spend. unfortunately right now it's the hipster dude-bro crowd that somehow has that money to blow.
