There are Scion TCs with a simple bolt on turbo making 500+fwhp, it is hard to justifying a cobalt to be better than a rwd because it has so and so much power, that's like a 300fwhp civic if it even gets close, basically maxed out and barely breaks mid 12s. I throw a simple bolt on turbo run only 5psi on stock everything run low 13s at 242rwhp. Anything can be fast on a straight line. But if we are talking turbo fwds from factory the Focus ST > Cobalt SS any day of the week.

its hard to say its better in a subjective matter. objectively, its really easy to say its better. the cobalt doesnt do as much for me as the frs but objectively, it does more.

No mistaking the silvery-blue Pontiac engine color. Tri-power '64/'65 GTO 389?

Those cars were legendary, but as in most cases, the legend is greater than the reality. They were only about as quick as the FR-S/BRZ!

So do Cobalts because when it comes to corners they lose. Typical American engineering, thinking only about straight lines, a few American engineer/designers did believe in corners but most don't. The classic Camaro and Mustang were great straight and cornering cars.

i'm guessing this guy won't admit he's wrong, but the cobalt is basically a fast POS, much like the caliber srt4, the neon srt4. It goes fast in a straight line, WOW! But good luck keeping traction in a tight corner. The fr-s isn't that type of car, its a blast to drive going 35 on the streets. The ONLY factor the cobalt ss beats the fr-s is in horsepower. bottom line. Its an old platform with cheap speed and power. thats it.

Anyways, had another "come race me bro" moment a few weeks ago. Was cruising on the highway and saw an evo with the boy racer spikes roll up on me and slow down when he caught up to my car. i was cruising at 65 and when he slowed down i dropped to 60 hoping he'd keep going. dude dropped too, so we just awkwardly cruised next to each other until he sped up and left. Im not stupid enough to try and race and evo, lol. I don't see why cars with 100 hp more try and race us, anyways. This car has a lot of haters, mostly because of its looks, price point and small engine. Its definitely a niche car, too expensive compared to its comptetitors, but not powerful enough to meet the demand of 275+ hp freaks. It is what it is, I love my car and could care less that it doesn't have 300 hp.

I had something like this.... parked at grocery store far far away.... come out and see a riced out sti packed full of teenagers say lets park right next to this,(my car), as I just walked up to it. one dude was decently cool and was like I wanna ask him a question its cool, "how much power does it have". The over weight chubster driver tried impressing his friends and said " its only 190". I then said that it was actually just rated at 200. He laughs and boats about his cars power.

you can think the car is incapable of taking a turn but in the car and driver lightning laps the cobalt was faster than the following: 2013 335i, evo 9 mr, evo x mr, 2013 gen coupe r spec 3.8, 2011 sti, 2008 isf, 2008 s5, 2008 s2000 cr, 2008 elise sc, 2011 rx8 r3.

It's fast, but not "that fast": a miata can be a lot faster, on a circuit track such as RIR..
miatas can be faster than a lot of things. that is another fact that has no bearing on the cobalt being as fast as it is.
