I'm nervous of bike racks so I just stick mine in the back with the seats folded down. It's a 23" 29er. Which is pretty much the biggest bike you can get so i'm certain you could fit almost anything in there.
I just wrap mine in an old sheet to prevent it scratching anything. It fits in with only the front wheel off but its easier to take off both. |

I'm very interested in one if you start producing these. Looks great. Easy, simple and don't have to climb on the roof! Best bike rack idea for sure.

Until now I have had "ZERO" issues with the rack and clamp mechanism for my bikes ( a road bike and a MTB bike). I usually ride every other day with visits to Vista View Park, Amelia, Markham Park and my favorite group ride (road bike) Adventura.
I should have better clarity about being able to produce these parts by Monday or Tuesday. I will keep all that are interested, informed as I receive more information.

Nice job. Those concerned about loads should get a tray like this one.

What I have and decided not to use use is a strap from an old trunk rack. I place the strap hook in the middle of the trunk and wrapped the other end around the seat post (I had sewed some Velcro to the end of it). Then pulled and adjusted the strap. I found that it was not necessary but if it makes anyone feel better, I would suggest doing something similar.
For anyone near me that would like to see the rack and in use, hit me up. I can meet you guys somewhere. Or I will be at Tower Shops on the 12th for the meet that Sportsguy is putting together. Let me know. Thanks.

^^^ I have not had a chance to go to the trails in Key Biscayne. I heard that they are pretty technical. I will hit you up or let me know if your coming up to Amelia or Markham.
Cheers!

Just found this thread; I'm also interested.
Edit: thought about it and realized I need capacity for more bikes, so I'm going with the trailer hitch. Still, this is very cool!

To the OP: I really, really like this design, especially because you can easily remove the rack and store the bits in the trunk. If you have a chance to post some drawings, I'd really appreciate it. I plan on buying a BRZ in the next year or two. I can easily make my own rack, but I'd love to have a rough idea of what you did as a starting point. This is a very clean design, and it makes me even more excited about owning a BRZ than I was before. Cheers, Jason P.S.
