Full Blown. Installed mine this weekend with no issue.

The Perrin kit was one of the first and still by far one of the most affordable. Mounting solution is good, and they are going to support it.

There are some things that could be changed or made better of course, but the bottom line is they care about making it right.

I had a slight bend or deflection in my cooler at the top out of the box. I asked Chris if it was a problem. He said no, but said he would swap it ASAP regardless.
Thats exactly what you want to hear, and why Perrin is good. No run-around.

Shiit happens, regardless glad to know there was a potential bad batch and will keep and eye on it.

I purchased a Perrin oil cooler this weekend. Any idea when it will be re-released? I don't want a rushed product. I rather wait a long time then issues.

We are getting a batch that will be ready to go in about 1-2 weeks. However, I'm not sure on the exact # of cores that we are receiving.

With having to replace the bad ones, I'm not sure on how many will be available for new customers.

Mocal is one of the best rad/coolers on the market that are affordable. I have seem them used on everything including spec and race cars. Chances are like anything they had a bad day in quality control.

Sucks but, one thing is for sure getting a new batch like this they will have more scrutiny this time around. Plus they are black!!

I am jealous, I had to paint mine.

Do you know if they are the silver or black ones being sent back? I really prefer the black.

They will most likely be a mix. If they find silver ones that are good, we will be getting them shipped back to us.

However, after this batch, every oil cooler will be black.

Is it possible to request the black one?

If you ordered directly from us, I can see what I can do for you.

If you want to shoot me a PM, we can go from there.

This is a rant.
I do not expect any resolution to this matter.
1/ I do not hold Perrin in any way responsible for this mess.
2/ I am of the opinion they are doing the right thing to get this matter sorted out.
3/ I bought my Perrin Oil Cooler Kit through Carmods Australia who have always given me good service.
4/ My oil cooler radiator appears to be leaking. Carmods Au are asking for pics so they can make a warranty claim from Perrin.

So far so good. But here is the thing that I am somewhat.... not angry,... I guess annoyed would be the best word to use. I paid a local garage, who I have dealt with for something like 20 years, to install the cooler kit. I supervised the installation. I watched the owner/mechanic follow the instructions to the letter. I paid 3 hours labour, that is $330 to have the kit installed and I was happy to pay that but now I find that I will have to pay again to get this sorted out. That's the part i dislike. I am paying twice.

Ah well. In the scheme of things it isn't a biggie and sometime soon i will be revving the shit out of my oil cooled car.

Rant ends.

Just from what I have read here Perrin is endeavoring to get this issue sorted out. It sucks that you are having to wait but at least you aren't like 20,000 kilometers away from Perrin like me. My Perrin oil cooler gets fitted next week. Bought locally but I would have to wait weeks if there was a problem.
Well I'd hoped that you would have waited and had them send you one of the ones that had been double checked. I'd hoped that I might save someone else the time and hassle I encountered.

I understand your frustration completely! However, I do not feel like you will need to take your vehicle back to the shop to get it re-installed. The way we are warrantying this part, is by simply sending you a replacement core!

All you will have to do is remove your bumper, replace the core, tighten the fittings, and be good to go.

Now, I do understand if you do not feel comfortable doing all this yourself, but I thought I would at least try and make you feel a little more at ease/comfortable with how straight forward this replacement will be.

Taking the bumper on and off is 90% of the work in the install anyhow. I don't know if Perrin might suggest this, but if the shop didn't already remove everything, you could potentially undo the sandwich plate from the motor and seal it off / zip tie it down to take it out of the system if you are commited to waiting.

When they do send you a new cooler you can replace the leaking one by removing the lower splash guard (which I think is easier) instead of the bumper. Just an idea. At least that way you can continue to drive it for a few weeks while you wait.

Thanks for that suggestion. That would speed up replacement a lot.
