I know everyone points out that F1 and other major exotic cars including Ferrari and others have gone to the paddle shifted automanuals as a reason why we should forget the manual.
Racing cars will use any and all technology to WIN. I seriously doubt any consideration of whether the racecar driver is having FUN is part of the equation. Having race tech in a street car gives it more credibility as a performance machine but does not necessarily makes it more fun. Manual cars are fun for me to drive. I am not a racecar driver nor are my even that good at the manual thing, but guess what? I have FUN while driving my E36 M3 manual. I don't have nearly the same feeling in the much faster Step 335. Clicking paddles may be faster in the racing situation, but I don't feel its more fun. Unless I plan to competitively race the car and it is proven the auto is quicker. I will take the manual. |

Dude, they stopped making biplanes too, but some people still fly them for fun -- and yet, technology marches onward with improvements for the rest of us. A lot of car guys bemoaned fuel injection too -- having to rely on some fancy schmancy computer to figure out fueling?!? Madness! All for stupid emissions?!? Gimmie a four barrel holley! That's what a proper bearded manly man wants sucking air and fuel -- not some stupid computer brain box! All the "car guys" will become computer geeks, as handy (or more) with a lap top than a wrench -- noooooooo! Don't worry, I'm sure you can find a kit car with all the gears and levers you need. Setlle down - --you sound like a crank

On that note, this is how a REAL man makes fire.
Only lazy wusses do it any other way. Everyone -- stop using matches and lighters so that this proper way of making fire doesn't die out! I don't care if matches and lighters are faster -- where's the fun?!?! |

Seriously, if there was no auto they wouldn't be making this car. So even us manual-lovers must recognize that. Auto trans = this car gets made. No auto trans = no car.

S2000 = no auto, and it was made for 10 years DOHC VTEC I4 Hondas = no auto, made and sold a shitload.. So certainly there would be LESS of them, but they could have still been made and sold. In fact I'd be more excited if they didn't sell it with the auto but I'm not retarded enough to not buy the car with a 6MT just because they also happen to sell it with another computer controlled device in a car whose goal was less computers :P

Plenty of industrious people drive autos; plenty of slothful people drive manuals.
The laziness argument is absurd. The cranks need to be less cranky... |
