Insurance Rates

Obviously the car is 6+ months from seeing the light of day here in the US but I was wondering when insurance will start giving out quotes for a new car.

Anyone have any idea?

I searched and only found a thread about safety ratings and not insurance.

Also...once people start getting quotes it would be nice to post up their rate on here with a brief history (not too intrusive) to give potential buyers an average idea of cost.

There's already a thread on this in the BRZ section, but it may be different for the FR-S. Insurance is going to be highly specific based on multiple things including driving history, age, marital status, location, etc.

Actually there has been an insurance thread on both forums. Zaku made one specifically for the BRZ and I made one for both when the forums hadn't separated yet.

OP.

OP.

This. Giccin, actually I think you made that thread when there was a seperate forum already for the Toyota/Scion and Subaru.

This car may be above average cost to insure. I can see this car being a target for wheel thieves, I will invest in a good set of locks right away. Don't think this will be an easy car to steal being modern but you never know. We have alot of tuner cars stolen in my area, but they are usually older and it is easy for scumbags to steal them.

What are "good" wheel locks? Are the ones that are usually available as an option from the dealership any good?

Insurance rates pretty much cut in half when you're married...a factor missing from this thread. That is why some are posting very low rates despite their age. Another major factor is the theft probability, Civic's are extremely likely to be stolen for example.

This website offers rough estimates and you can see how some super sporty cars like a Corvette is cheaper than a Civic Si 2-door. It's also about "who" or "what kind" of person drives them. You generally don't find balding 40-50 year olds in Civic Si's
