Well with my wrx I pay $650 every six months with geico full coverage of 100,000/300,000. I'm 27 and living in miami which is not a city known for having cheap rates. So I'm guessing it should be probably around the same at least for me since I was paying $610 for the same coverage when I had my camry.

Actually... I believe it. Certain high schools tend to attract yuppies with more money than sense and will get their kid whatever car he/she wants. There was a reason my high school was referred to as "Glitter Valley High" since all the jocks drove brand new Mustangs, Camaros, and Trans Ams.

I can believe it. I was quoted $300 for PLPD(sp?) on my old truck when I was 18. Parents' insurance went up a whopping $100 with me on it.

08 128i - $1694
08 135i - $1808
07 IS250 - $1730
07 IS350 - $1847
06 G35 - $1973
08 G37 - $1808

That was with 100,000/300,000. I know those are obviously in a different class completely, but there's no way I could see full coverage for a car that is being financed for less than $1200 a year at rock bottom.
Those aren't too great :/. And you are talking early 20's, so it's not going to compare to RRnold's "legendary" insurance quote.

Luxury SPORT cars. And yes they are all expensive. The 128i starts at $30k.

Do it! I was surprised how much 5 years of driving makes on insurance. Now I can *almost* afford car insurance and a car payment but not at the same time .

Edit: Nevermind, apparently my rates are still fairly high. $120-$180 depending on the car.
6 months Progressive online quote, my information.

'12 Mazda Miata $704
'12 Subaru Impreza $767
'12 Toyota(yes) tC $864
'12 Hyundai Gencoupe 2.0T $908
'12 Mazda RX-8 $963
'12 BMW 128i Coupe $1008
'12 Hyundai Gencoupe v6 $1011
'12 Subaru Impreza WRX $1059

I tried to use some other vaguely similar cars from the same class or even Manufacturer to extrapolate a possible number. I hope the rates lean towards the Miata's because holy fried chicken is that cheap!

A RWD 2 seater that is cheaper to insure than a FWD Toyota or an AWD Subaru, huh? Must be some low collision rates or something because that is phenomenal!

Still doesn't even compare to RRnold's $495 a year quote for 250k/500k. I'll have to research Wawanesa... Apparently they are a Canadian Company and only offer insurance in Cali and Oregon.

With my record: 20 yrs old... zero accidents with me as fault, 2 with the other driver at fault, and no points or tickets, for 4 cars

1x 05 4runner
1x 08 solara
1x 99 altima
1x 11 S5...

Its costing ME about 375ish per car... or about $1500 a month. Before they added me to the plan, it used to be about 700 a month(?) but that was before we had the S5. Family uses AAA as info.

Right there with you.

$2k a year for something I hope to never ever use, would pay for a motor bike in a couple years .

Maybe in a couple more years it'll drop more...

Yikes, I've almost died several times riding a bicycle. Combine that with the hell you deal with when it's raining, and the various s*** that flies into your eyes, definitely not my preferred method of transport.

My mom added me to her plan (Geico) sometime back and her 6 month payment went up something like 500 dollars. Needless to say, she canceled that, as I don't even have my own car to use By contrast, adding a brand new BMW 335 coupe only added 50 dollars or so.

Then when you need it, insurance wont pay out or try to pay out alot less...

Here at the moment the insurance companys are trying to get out of paying for earthquake damage... even if people have full house replacement insurance...

They are saying they will pay to repair the house even tho its unliveble and the red zone areas of land will get comdend.
So repair the house then it has to be bold over

I just paid my 6 month premium today - $376.50

26, Progressive, no infractions, 100/300/100, $500 deductibles. I think the key for me is it's rarely driven. I normally drive a company vehicle. I'd expect to pay quite a bit more for a brand new car, especially if it were driven daily.

Yes.

And then there are cases where people total the car from a dent and the insurance company gives them thousands of dollars.

It will be interesting to see if the car sells mostly to teenagers or if the crowd will be mature enough not to screw up everything, especially the insurance rates. I'm hoping it gets into that 25+ crowd that Insurance rates seem to favor. $50 more a month wouldn't be a combo breaker but it would be a waste paying it on higher insurance.

That is a part of my reasoning for wanting a modest amount of HP.

And there shouldn't be a difference between the Toyota or the Subaru version for insurance purposes... Worst case one or the other gets the really young guys, meaning I go for the other one. I'm not too picky about brands and badges.

There is this really cool invention called a full face helmet. Keeps all the s*** from getting in your eyes. Also, helps if you fall off and land on your head.

*For motorcycle insurance try Foremost. They have had the cheapest rates I have seen. I use them on my Ducati and it was just over 400 for a year.*

You didn't miss the word "bicycle" did you? (don't mean that in an offensive way lol)
Just a normal helmet makes my head sweat like crazy when I bike. Not to mention, bringing around a full face helmet is pretty awkward.

Oh and @Allch Chcar's comment on "modest hp": Would insurance companies notice if the manufacturer's stated "hp" was actually at the wheels with all the accessories on? LOL
