Agreed, More options only makes things better for us the consumers.

You are right. The only thing you get with the vortech kit is a fan and a pulley.

Nevermind all the piping, the bypass valve, couplers, supercharger mounting bracket, replacement airbox, pulleys, alternator mounting bracket, etc.

I see where you are coming from, and its always cheaper to build your own kit... I know from experience.

But to say that you only get a fan and a pulley.....

Don't forget the intercooler. Innovate will certainly cost closer to the Vortech kit once that option is available.

Just an observation.
Honestly, I think vortech made a mistake with their compressor choice and forcing people to buy a new compressor if they want to go much past the kits output. Then the Innovate kit came out even worse. At this point I don't feel the Innovate kit is worth the respect required to mention it in a thread like this. The compressor is nearly at full speed at factory redline, meaning there is very little room for imporvement. The only way to add power with that kit is with meth or e85. I can only imagine how much I would be laughed at if I took my car to a local shop and had it dynoed after installing my new supercharger, only find I'm only making 210-220 whp.

One of the best things about the Drag reduction system(looking at negative pressure on intake) is that it compensates with a little boost on tip in.

This little compensation gets you going and improves throttle response nicely.

All in all i am still loving this kit as a daily driver. 2nd and 3rd gear blasts are addicting and 4th just hauls ass on the highway

Honestly first is pretty vicious now, any amount of rain on the road and watch out.

I would buy this electric supercharger over the other SC/Turbo kits, just for it's [relative] simplicity and for how I drive my car. I wouldn't need an oil cooler or radiator upgrade, or wider tires either.. those are all a plus in my DD.

95% of the time, my mods + E85 tune is more than enough for me as a DD.. I would love this electric SC for the other 5% when I just need that extra punch to pass on the highway or let loose on the backroads (on a straightaway).

It sounds like the improvement to the responsiveness with the "Drag Reduction" might make coming out of corners more fun too. Not that straight line acceleration isn't fun.

I still wish the designer would work out a way to limit the boost below an rpm set point.

FWIW I hit 270 degree oil temps NA during a 20 minute HPDE session with 75-80 degree ambient air temps. This car needs an oil cooler if you're going to drive it hard. I can't believe how fast it rises under pressure.

Thinking more about HPDE usage. Average on-track sessions for me in my club are around 25 minutes each.

As long as there is a toggle switch for the throttle sensor on the SC, I can keep it OFF while doing warmup laps (4-5 minutes) and then for hot laps I can toggle the SC on and then go ballistic until I see significant battery fade and then turn it back off and take it easy for a lap or two while it charges back up.

I think this kit would probably hold up for at least 10-15 minutes of track usage depending on the track and amount of WOT/boost time needed. The toggle switch is the key to having the boost when you want it and managing battery life while on track.

Fenton are you using a drop in filter or the stock one?

Whats your winter driving plan for dealing with the torque monster? At least I have CAA+ :P

Using stock filter with 30000km on it so far.

Winter driving should be no different as the system only engages at Wide Open Throttle.

Not sure if i will keep it on in the winter though because batteries and whatnot just arent as happy in our temperatures.

We will see, i probably wont be able to live with myself if i take this thing off and go from 190tq to 109tq lol.

You could lend it to me for the winter driving "tests"
if it's just sitting around in your garage, that is.

I think that a lot of the talk comparing this kit to traditional turbo or supercharger kits is mostly pointless. If I'm being honest... If I have the money to spend on a regular turbo kit, then I'm going to choose that over this any day of the week. But that's me and I don't mind the extensive installation and everything else and I'm quite happy to risk blowing up my engine in the pursuit of more and more power.

I'm not the average consumer though. The beauty of this kit is that it's significantly cheaper and very easy to do a DIY install, and there should be just about zero risk to the engine from running it. It doesn't have the tunability options of a regular turbo, but that's an advantage for lots of people.

So making comparisons is really only relevant when showing that this system IS worth getting. Not so much for making the argument that it's something you'd rather have than a traditional FI setup. Those who want an full-blown FI setup are still going to get one, and comparing those to each other is relevant. For this kit though... it's basically opened up a great option for those who would have otherwise just splurged on a new intake and exhaust setup.

Also... it's been mentioned that the better comparison is to a 50 shot of nitrous, which is right on the money. So, having just seen this... here's an advantage that this kit has over that option...
