That's the thing, I don't have my mind made up =/. I've actually been incredibly back and forth with both, and every piece of info I hear on either keeps flip floping my preference. Also, I wasn't looking for convincing =/, I was more looking for a bit of insight into which the community thinks will pan out better in the long run. What it comes down to is, can the GC with enough work put into it, handle respectably. OR, Can the FR-S with enough work put into it, not get left behind on a straight.

Just to clarify, drag doesn't interest me. I'm a road course and AutoX kind of guy (more road course than AutoX). I love twisties but straights do exist and nothing annoyed me more with my current car than gaining ground in the corners only to lose a large chunk or all of it on a straight.

Personally after seeing all the videos and playing the car in GT5, the FRS\BRZ is going to be the car to get. Who cares if it only has 200 HP. We all know in our hearts of hearts its going to be fast enough. The S2000 was not a slow car, and neither will the FRS\BRZ be slow. It is not slow is any of the videos and not slow in GT5.

Who knows, maybe the FRS\BRZ will dyno at 200 HP to the wheels..hehe! We will just have to wait and see.

But yeah, I hope that Scion hears some of us and offers, HIDS (with
LED DRL's), push start with the dual zone AC and the leather\Alcantara heated seats. Yeah you don't really need that stuff, but it just makes the car look and feel so much cooler on the inside and out (HIDS). I am willing to pay extra for it.

But hey Scion if not, then make the car's MSRP very competitive!

Anyways, thank you Toyota and Subaru for making this car! You are about to jump start the scene again!

Hopefully this will make Nissan and Honda will get some balls and make some small lightweight RWD coupes to compete against your marvelous creation!

Lol yeah I'm aware of that, I work for them . I've been yelled and cursed at to my face over the old HPFP's, hell some of our customers still use it as a reason to try and get free stuff . The worst day of my life was when I semi-snapped and yelled back at a guy that was literally 3 inches from my face swearing because his 335 left him on the side of the 95 for a little over an hour. Almost made me lose my job

Def agree with the bold, though I can live without the dual zone AC in such a small car.

To me it sounds like you want everything from the AS1 except it's engine. You want the tranny, handling, size, etc, but the Gen's engine and wheel bolt pattern
In essence yes. I mean... I DO like the flat four and how much work they put into it's positioning; I just wish it had a bit more 'umph'. Max reminded me that TRD is testing SC variants and they have plans of rolling out different variatons of the 86 every year for the next decade so who knows, it might be a good idea to hold off on both and see what happens with the factory FI option.

Oh man I am with you, but the dual zone AC controls looks so much cooler than the base AC unit. It gives the car a little bit of tech. But yea, if Scion just gave us the proximity key with push start and the HIDs with LED Drl's I will be done. I could live with it.

But man, those alcantara seats...hmmmm I love those.

Also on the High Spec trim there is leather trim on the doors too.

I know some people don't care, but that's why it should be an option, so people who want it can get it.

Oh and you are going to be waiting a long time for FI in this car if ever. But hey, there is a new WRX coming in about 4 to 6 months after the BRZ is released....

The AS1 is about good power and low weight. We will probably never see from the factory a 300 HP AS1.

Scion, dump the monospec crap and let us order the car like we want it. You will satisfy everyone!

i think as of now, the gen coupe will offer you more power. on the auto-x the fr-s will be more superior from its light weight and smaller dimensions, but i think the gen coupe wont be far off if not faster on a track (mainly because of its power). In the states we have large highways and driving on them is easier with a bigger engine, whereas in europe and japan they have narrow curvy roads that require agility. even though the gen coupe is korean (similar to japan as far as road conditions), it is clearly made for the crowd here in the states, whereas the hachi is more of a niche car that follows its japanese traditions IMO. i myself ask for more power not because i want to race people on the streets and live my life quarter mile at a time but because it is a convenience to have the useable torque to pull myself out of trouble spots (merging, etc). genesis coupe will be easier to live with on a day to day basis because of those factors (especially if you are anywhere 6ft+), but most fans of the 86 wont care about that and demand more on cornering capabilities.

also, you should seriously ask yourself the question of, "would I really modify a car that comes with a 10-year waranty?" if you plan on modifying at all.

i think it's handling finesse vs grand tourer and they are both quite nice... now only if we can get honda and nissan going for more fun

FRS vs Gen Coupe again? How many thread do we need?
I like how people comparing 3400lb pig to a 2700lb lightweight car.
Who said 5x100 bolt will not have large selections?

That "kill it with fire" front on GC is enough reason making me not to choose GC.

I think I know why there is a couple people out there who compare these two cars(I'm one of them). These cars is kind of like a small and medium size version of each other.
I love cars with these similarities.

-Low slung sports car GT body
-2+2/2 seater
-RWD
-Cheaply priced

That was kind of my thinking, going to have to test drive them both. Worried about the head room in the brz/frs as I am somewhat tall (6'1") and I have a 45 minute drive each way to work. I guess it just comes down to price point and mpg for me in the end.

Simple answer: If you only care about having fun, get the GT86. If you only care about straight line performance, get the GC. The GT86 was never designed to be a fast car, it was designed to be a fun car.

Is your SVT Focus FI? If not, I'm unsure why you're all wound up about power.

Good luck with that one. Going to be pretty rare to find an FR-S owner who wants the BRZ front end.
