@HotLeopardMama bought hers here:

Cycle Gear

Address: 1391 S Lemon St, Fullerton, CA 92832
Phone:(714) 525-4205

They let her try them on, in and out of the car. Just make sure it's rated for what you're using it for. She was able to get a Snell rated Shoei helmet on super-clearance.

Do not go to a motorcycle helmet shop, you will get a motorcycle helmet and not a car helmet....

Sube Sports and Racing Lifestyle are here in Orange County, or you can go to Werks II in Burbank

If you want hit big track events, avoid motorcycle shops, as they probably won't carry many (or any) helmets with both Snell SA & M certs. SCCA Solo Autocross is okay with M cert only, but big tracks require the SA cert.

You can look up brands with Snell SA2010 certification here: Helmet Certification Lists. Mine is M2010 certified, but I don't plan on doing any big track events pretty much ever.

You also might find this site helpful.

I bought mine at Sube Sports in Huntington Beach. They stock several brands and sizes, I went in person and the staff was friendly and helpful.
