Worse car to buy is a gencoupe had a stage 2 2010 gencoupe. Thing slid everywhere, pain in the ass for gas. No quality parts. When I got the frs, too slow needed a turbo. Got one and I wouldnt want anything else. Unless it's a 335 or 135 :P

my brother owns a gen coupe and we switched cars last weekend and drove around a bit.
He likes my car a lot better but I gotta say I WAS surprised at how fast gen coupes are. that turbo really makes the upper half of the tach just blow by. The main thing is COG but also curb weight. The gen coupe is pretty heavy. It makes up for it with more hp and big brakes, but its a different overall experience. to each his own. |

I do love all the justification on all sides though....
The grass is always greener. I sometimes worry about the longevity of the FR-S Engine and if I would've been beter off keeping my NC Miata or getting something else, but life's too short to wonder what could've been. I love my car and look forward to driving it everyday and I couldn't be happier. I hope the same to anyone driving any car. Gen coupes are great cars, FR-S are great cars. Lemons, now those are bad cars. |

Nothing unusual going on at the GenCoupe forums. We all like to affirm our decisions...that's what we do here on a daily basis. Sometimes the rhetoric goes over the top...and when you point that out...your forum mates will flame you.
Now drink the damn koolaide.

My experience is limited to test drives (with no salesman -- beat the shit out of the demos. I pick my FRS up on Saturday), but I feel the 86 is a nicer place to sit. I'm a tall guy, and I couldn't quite find a comfortable driving position in the gencoupe. I feared that I'd have the same issue with the FRS, but that bucket seat fits me like a brand new golf glove, and was able to find more than one comfortable position. Those dials in the console of the gencoupe are retarded. I took a girl down with me while I was shopping around (in case I wound up rolling off the lot in something new and needed someone to drive my car home), and she couldn't stop making fun of the things. She knows nothing about cars, and couldn't see the point. I did my best to justify them to her (I had yet to drive the FRS, and was seriously considering buying the genesis), but I was definitely reaching. They're just lame.
The handling of the gen is quite good, even if it does feel heavy and like to understeer, and there's no denying it hauls when the turbos are spinning. It feels like an Asian-built muscle car to me, and that just isn't something I'm willing to spend 30k on. I also see them fairly often, and have yet to see an FRS/BRZ here in Nova Scotia. There is only one Scion dealer in NS, and he said they've averaged 2 FRS sales per month. The FRS is slower for sure, but it also felt more fun to drive based on my 20 minute sample sizes. Slightly less power isn't necessarily a bad thing for me... a speeding ticket here nets you a 7 day suspension of your license, and I'm a paramedic... that's also a 7 day suspension from work. The FRS and gencoupe do different things well, and fit a different niche if you ask me. The qualities of the FRS just suit me better. I'm fully willing to admit that stock vs stock, and most likely dollar for dollar in aftermarket upgrades, the gencoupe will go around a track faster than an FRS. But in the immortal words if Jeremy Clarkson, he who is last shall be sideways and smiling. Plus it's way nicer looking. |

People on this forum are just as, if not more, bias than the people on the Genesis forum...

You are going to find this on any car forum. That said, most people on forums like this one and Gencoupe are pretty cool. Unfortunately. there are a few bozos on both forums who take these things too far.

I agree, I participate on this forum because I like most of the people on it. I am just saying that everyone on here making fun of how biased the Genesis guys are on that forum are definitely the pot calling the kettle black because we could make a list of threads on here that are just as bias.
