Because those cars are over 20 years old and the motor was terrible.

Motor swap in a heartbeat if the motor was completely effed. Likely 2JZ.

They were cool cars but the motor was terrible once you took it past stock. The only older cars I'd buy at this point in life would be an NSX, a classic hot rod or a 2006 or newer exotic. I'm over chasing gremlins and spending months and $$$ just to bring a car up to par with what it should've been maintained at.

I'm talking a new 4g63, evo 8 or 9. Preferably a 4g63t-mivec out of a 9

I'd either build the stock motor or swap in a built V6 of some variety. Plenty of room, lots of power, minimal weight gain and the weight distribution should be amazing.
Feels weird thinking about a replacement engine for a car I haven't bought yet. Damn, I can't wait.

We can rebuild it, we have the technology! I would take this opportunity to just rebuild it, I would find out what is broken and fix it, I would also take this opportunity to put in stronger parts, new Pistons, connecting rods, and cam-shafts. Good time to really get to know the car.
