I know I've already gone down this road... and to be fair, if we were talking about a V8 consuming huge amounts of air and the small blower was the same size then you'd certainly have an issue... but it just isn't in this case. The engine is getting all the air you want it to... until it's isn't.

Keeping in mind that if two different sized compressors are reading the same boost pressure, the smaller one is actually moving less air, is there any possibility at all that the smaller unit would not throw a code? Is it worth testing?
Not concerned about losing boost at high rpms, as long as we don't get to a point where the electrocharger is actually choking the system at high rpms.

Hey WW!
I'll add: The TB point just before the WOT switch activation has some restriction. In all my test cars thus far the N/A torque had lots of overhead for this small reduction not to be an issue. The 4.3L has gobs of TQ all by it self, so does WW's M45 2.4L, the FA20 does not. We are going to try the partial spool /restore to near atmos transducer on Fenton's car. With the AC 'on' and 4 people the N/A torque is all used up. We'll get Fenton's feedback on this. But yes, at no point will you every have 'less' power, cause it is ready. |

With the AC on it was slow, but the damn car is slow anyways before i got this thing. I just found myself pushing the throttle until the SC came on. And because there were 3 girls chit chatting i didnt want to rudely interrupt them with BOOOOST haha. After they got out it was AC off windows down and full throttle fun. |

No I havent, i have tried my best, i just cant do it on the street. Race track yes, i could probably cause it to shut off. Problem is every time you let off the throttle it starts charging back up.
I noticed that after doing 4 x 0-140km/h that it was taking longer to get to "full" 28.5v It still pulls hard and works fine from anywhere in the 27's. You cant really see the Volt readout in the night vids but you can see in the day ones, it just shots back up. |

I'm honestly thinking best bang for the buck mod for the BRZ FRS.
I mean all that other stuff you spend more on (tune, exhaust, cold air), does next to nothing but costs more. This costs less, and destroys them. Hell, this killed the Vortech in terms of low end torque, and looking at the AVO turbo Auto maps, matches them. And, it literally goes to stock in 5 minutes, maybe 15 if you go back to stock battery and remove the controller etc. Hell, dealer woudn't even know what he was looking at if he saw the batteries and controller, he would think it some stereo stuff lol. Obviously this runs quite well on the stock tune. Fenton has been bagging the crap out of this thing with no issues except the CEL light for ""MAP sensor high" if he punches it at 3000. But the CEL has no affect on performance (we dyno tested it with the code present and cleared). We will "tune it" this week and see what happens. I'll be using BRZ Edit, but will keep a change log for anyone that wants it for their Ecu Tek tuner. |

Getting an RPM reading should be fairly easy. If you can get the controller to limit the motor speed to 80% or something and ramp up to 100% at 2500 or 3000 or something, that would probably do the trick. Hell, if you could put a little knob on it to control it, that would be awesome. I mean... there's lots of talk here about the altitude you guys are dealing with so it stands to reason that if Fenton is getting too much boost at low RPM's, someone nearer to sea level might get WAY too much boost. And hey... EVERYONE likes little knobs and switches, right?

If it didn't need the damned tune, it would be perfect. As is, it is very close.
Simple install - check. Affordability - check. Sufficient power gain - check. Driveability - check. No codes - miss. Four out of five and the fifth can be fixed if you don't mind a tuning solution.

Of course, from the sounds of it, they can go out and have their fun right away and get the tune done at their earliest convenience with no ill effects... so still a win, right?
