for $1500 you get the un-vin-locked version that can tune any number of cars. or, of course, you can just crack the consumer version if you're into that sort of thing. not a recommendation, just sayin' lol.

Yeah. Hell of a deal for 1500 and tune as many cars as you want for no more cost.

If they're comfortable using ecuedit with the subarus, then brzedit is no different.

Yeah, it's not the tuning platform. I'd just rather go with someone who has tuned a few forced inducted kits and specifically the innovate kit. If I were getting a super deal, it might be different.

i have a tuner that is looking into this system. i will let you know what we decide to do.
our biggest issue is how capable it is. we want to be able to tune everything from na to full race forced induction. if it can do all the tricks the other guys can do i will be getting him setup for the full kit.

It has all tables and parameters you would need. Direct and port injector characterizations. Cam angle tables. Sensor calibrations. Timing tables. Fuel tables etc etc. If you use good Subaru software.... it is just as extensive and then some.

Aem chose brzedit for r and d and logging.

It lacks the gimmicks that seem to come and go with ecutek.... autoblip. Af display etc. But they have ffs and launch control. Also no map switching yet.

Yeah, for some reason I thought the top one was called 'tuner'. I should know better as I own the personal edition!

i wish some of the tuners on the boards like fa20club or motoeast would offer tunes via brzedit. it'd be nice to have a knowledgeable tuner to dial in a solid tune while having the flexibility for myself or my local tuner to make minor changes to that map as needed.

They'd probably lose their ecutek license (or at least their good graces) over it. It's the Microsoft approach, come up with a crappy licensing scheme and win through brute force ubiquity lol.

Not to mention they're sunk into the platform. I think you have to buy into the EcuTek thing (there are a lot of up front costs for a tuner). I doubt either of those tuners with their volume of business would drop it. Best bet is a tuner who doesn't use EcuTek and is just starting to play with the BRZ/FRS.

Not really, we use both, Ecutek is well aware of it and understands that it is a buyers market.

We have customers who want the lower cost version of the files, with out the extras like the Race Rom patch, but there are far more that like the extras like the map switching.

One thing you need to think about; Race Rom is not just a simple add on with extra maps and such, there are some very significant code patches that allow the software to do things that BRZedit can't, such as log extra parameters.

Also, you mention editing on your own after the tuner has done your car with BRZedit; unless your tuner gives you the ROM and allows it to be editable from the personal edition, you will not be able to simply edit what he/she have installed.

Now, the question is how many of these do we sell vs the EcuTek? Well since we sell our EcuTek file(stock,91oct,93 oct and e85) for 399.99 with free lifetime upgrades, and we sell the BRZedit files for 300.00, with the same free updates(you have too buy a cable), not too many. Most folks want to added coolness of the RR map switching.

The fact is some of them do offer them, you just have to ask.

There are some countries, like australlia where ecutek has sole distributors (MRT in this case) so if you don't get your tune from MRT in australlia you don't get an ecutek tune.. period. And if you manage to get an ecutek tune from someone other than MRT and MRT finds out... EcuTek will boot you.

Trust me when i say tuners are driven by customer demand. If enough people say to their tuner, "I don't want EcuTek, i want BRZedit" they will offer it. Same will be true when ecuflash comes out. The guy that know how to tune will rise to the top since maps will no longer be locked and everyone will be able to see their work, the hack tuners will fall by the side and move on to new markets. It may take a couple of years, but it will happen.

EcuTek has some great features, but they ARE NOT end user friendly. The tuners are their customers, not us.
