correct, my revworks turbo kit is being tuned with brzedit. i won't make any announcements re: their kit, but suffice to say there is no ecutek involved, and you as a consumer are better off for it. they also offer brzedit tunes locally here in orlando to customers.

there is nothing about brzedit that is considerably different than any other tuning package i've seen since the megatune days. anyone who can tune ecutek/haltech/aem or anything else can tune brzedit. it's like asking someone 'can you build a birdhouse?' and them replying 'yes', and then asking 'but... can you build a birdhouse with a yellow hammer'. it's nonsense.

I think that if you spend over $4k on FI with a tune it just makes sense that you would want the ability to keep fine tuning it. The EcuTek model is fine but not perfect. The key to a long life force inducted engine is avoiding detonation in all situations.

Daily driving is much different than WOT dyno pulls. We shift gears for one, we shift while climbing hills, we down shift to pass. And we don't always do all these things at WOT. The programming of the transition from closed loop to open loop is something I want to see and have control over. The fact that all the professional ECuTek tuners completely missed the transient ignition retard table tells a lot.

Any good pro tuner will tell you that no tune is ever done, that is why programs like Kpro, Rom-Raider, etc resulted in many successful builds. Groups of people collectively working together to perfect tunes.

With BRZedit and an Innovate SC the group can continue to perfect things as time goes one. Could be the $3k upgrade this car community has been waiting for. That's getting affordable

But Brz edit's $500 price is a turn-off to many, it may be a year or two till a true open source program gets the grassroots group projects out of the wood-work.

The rom has been posted along with the romraider definition. All of the maps (from what i can tell) have been identified and exist in the deffinition, but they have not been labeled or had axis / data scaling done.

Just by comparing to other 32bit subaru roms, one could fairly quickly fill out the remainder of the definition for a large portion of the maps.

What is really missing at this point is the ability to flash the ecu with opensource tools.

If your local brz 'club' bought a tactrix cable and pro version of brz edit....then everyone could share it and tune as many cars as you wanted for no additional cost.

But it can only be installed on one laptop... so you would have to take that into consideration.

My Innovate Super charger "including 3-4 local buds" will be BRZedit tuned for the exact same reason. Our tuner is not a fan of ECUtek. They actually got a shop license and charge 600 for a tune and 200 for every retune... They also have random 50% off events... I paid $300 for my first tune and $200 for my last tune after my revworks header was installed... About to spend another $200 for my super charger tune. 3 tunes for $700 isn't bad in my book.... :happy0180:

even better... a few years down the road when you live 1000 miles away from the tuner or he's out of business (hypothetical) and you need to change something, you can just pull the map and change it yourself or pay another tuner to. no need to pay someone to start from scratch again.

a tuning tool that allows tuning. who'dve thought that would be so great for the consumer? lol
